You clearly don’t know how this works and Lebron was arguably the most hyped player ever coming out of the draft using him as a comparison is ass backwards.

No he wouldn’t be a bust if he ended up a top 15 player but he’d still come short of expectations.

A top 15 player is still a hofer tho with a historic career, many all star appearances, all nba selections, and likely atleast one championship and maybe even an mvp or finals mvp.

Unless u think lonzo ball is going to wind up being a perennial all star than he’s a bust for where he was picked.

If you get picked top 5 in the nba the consensus is that you’ll atleast have a couple years at an all star level and if u don’t Ur a disappointment for the franchise that drafted you.

This isn’t rocket science no need to get in ur feelings.

You don't know how it works if you don't get the comparison was for scale.

A good player in the NBA isn't exclusive to top 15, 20, 30, or even 40.
It makes no logical sense to label him a bust when he's been a good performer.

You're simply wrong unless you want to attach your own definition of bust to include 'expectations' relative to performance to an extreme level where every top 10 pick needs to be a perennial all star.

But that is just obtuse, unfair, and serves little point because expectations as a career progresses change anyway. The real expectations of a player a few years into the league is the salary you pay a player. What's even the value of describing the value of a player using bust as an adjective based outdated expectations of draft numbers? Maybe you could say he was a "bust" for the Lakers, but even that's unfair because evaluating NBA prospects isn't a science. No one knows for sure how someone will develop or perform in short/long run.

The only reasonable thing to do is gauge your expectations towards the performance they've shown. Their objective benchmark of good performance in the NBA and the cutoff isn't 1st team/Allstar level play throughout their career. Lonzo has played at an objectively good level and will be paid accordingly. What he's paid IS his expectation of performance, not his draft number.

Also no ones emotional, the argument on your side is just irrational and makes no sense.

Magic Johnson was talking about Lonzo’s number being up in the Lakers rafters one day.

Lonzo absolutely is a bust. You don’t get drafted #2 overall and the media coverage he was getting just to be a solid role player

He’d be lucky to be an all star one year

cudi stans would be an expert on what a bust is musically i guess

He was the #2 pick dude not just a top 10 pick and yes go back and look at every other pick in his range who underperformed and people call them a bust.

Ur typing too much to be saying so little.

I watch plenty of basketball lol if he doesn’t end up with a couple all star years and somewhat live up to his draft status and hype that compared him to Jason Kidd he’s still a bust.

You can still be a good player one day but you’ll never not be considered a bust because if the team had the choice to take someone else in a redraft they would.

That’s why they call later picks who play like all stars or hofers steals...

However “unfair” that may seem to you that’s the harsh reality of sports especially from a gm’s perspective.

Is he? You might wanna check the numbers from both of their 3rd seasons.

I’d say Lonzo is slightly better because his shooting but they’re both busts as of now

Lonzo still has the ability to improve because he’s young but these fools defending him saying he’s not a bust atm are lying to themselves lol.

If he’s not a bust than Bam Adebayo and Donovan mitchell aren’t steals lol

That’s how it works in sports you get picked #2 people expect greatness if u end up being just a good player then you will be deemed a bust.

Bust doesn’t always mean you’re trash it just means you weren’t nearly as good as you were supposed to be.

No one considers him a bust besides deluded fans with skewed expectations and less grip on reality on the value of a player.

If you want to define a bust as every top 5 pick then who isn't a top 15 or whatever player go ahead. That's you.

Reality is at 22 he is a sought after player many teams would pay a decent amount for and the draft number means nothing to the many teams who'd sign and probably start him. That's not a bust to me or any comparable player like Lonzo.

Tbh, you probably aren't even comprehending what I said and skimmed over because you're still missing the point.

How long you've been watching basketball isn't even relevant lol

It’s rare that a franchise would have the opportunity for a #2 pick. That pick needs to be a perennial all star at least.

Like i said expectations change. The real expectation is the salary a player is paid after they've shown what they can do in the league. Unless you can tell me that isn't the case you have no real argument bro

    Thankyou

That may be a “harsh” or “unfair” expectation for most players but not if ur picked #2...that’s what comes with the territory of being a top pick...More pressure to perform and if u don’t more critics.

Then define a bust solely as a relative to the team that drafted him, not the player as a whole in the career.
