Brilliant thread idea bruh
I know they’re retired, but I never hear about how Klaxons had some absolute bangers.. Man I wish they had made an effort to be more active on a global scale (like similar to Bloc Party for example).
My big sister was a bigger indie-rock fan than I was back in the day; she had her finger on the pulse on the hottest bands while I was trying to find my own indie bands that I could claim for myself
Anyway sorry for blabbering
My point is Black Kids were a special band for my sister. In 2019 I played her "Hurricane Jane" and the nostalgia came flooded in for her

That’s actually one of the few BP songs I f***ed with
In the sense that I’ve basically only listened to that from their catalog
Shout-out to skateboarder Daewon Song (This Modern Love was used in one of his skate parts.)

naw but it’s been on my ptw list.. it’s fire?
ngl tho i don’t get too nostalgic about that era cause that was when all i cared about was rap music but i was still like slightly tapped into all the other genres too

I watched it mainly because I’m a big Strokes fan lmao
The doc uses a kind of "organic" approach for its presentation, meaning that they tried to keep it authentic as much as possible.
If you like Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Strokes (on top of LCD Soundsystem) then I’d say it’s a must watch
It may be too boring if you don’t have a connection with the featured bands already though.
We’ve gotta include The Strokes itt no matter how popular they are
There’s an official documentary about this indie scene, which uses the same title as The Strokes song I posted:
!https://youtu.be/UgHN-YE7IPI@op I recommend watching this even if you’re not that familiar with the bands featured in the doc. It helps give an insight on the formative indie scene in New York that took the world by storm.
the book meet me in the bathroom is one of my favorite books of the past few years
