i tried to avoid this whole thing but did chapelle openly say he’s a term

    "TERF"
yes his reasoning more being " I am a feminist I cannot decide if a trans portrayal of women is offensive the same way white people cant ever see or grasp the history of black face. We all come out of a womans vagina. They are the only ones getting periods and suffering child birth"

    does it land?

    is it an astute observation?

    I dont know bucko

you were expecting them to take it down when its been ripped to the internet so that they stop making money off of it but it exist on the internet ?

  • Who here genuinely expected Netflix to take it off their streaming platform and stop making money off of it? How much content does Youtube, Twitter, Facebook have that we disagree with? Do we ask it be taken down or just not watch it? They have actual full fledged hate speech with calls to action

    "violence"

you think someone that didn't feel comfortable murdering or attacking a trans person heard a chappelle special and said "well that rich person I have never met whose show I have seen before said he thinks gender is a fact so I am now affirmed in my beliefs and I am fully willing to physically attack a trans person. I will use this chappelle special in court and face reprecusssions for my actions but in our country we know gender is a fact so I wont face reprecussions"

when i said “hate or violence” i’m quoting from the netflix ceo’s statement

i don’t think removing the video is the best option bc it’ll cause more good than bad. removing it will have ppl crying about cancel culture and it’ll somehow be a part of “hollywood’s trans agenda”
i think it needs a PR content warning statement at the start of the video to cover their ass

and yes i think it’s harmful cause for so many normies this will be their first introduction to the term terf and they’ll probably think they’re okay cause chappelle sided with them

like not to mention black transwomen experience some of the highest rates of violent assault. so those comments that basically pit the queer community against black ppl is so irresponsible and only harms those most at risk

They would think they are "okay" either way again anyone espousing that much hate or disgust for trans people will never have a trans friend in their entire life, work with a trans person, view their art and comedy or view them as an equal. The term TERF and TERF forums aren't giving these hateful ignorant people ideas that they didnt already have. Racism is seen as widely unacceptable as is misogyny that doesnt really change anything.

Dave could spend the whole special saying "love trans people and become friends with them show love to all"

the people filled with hate gonna be like "its the LGBT agenda why doesn't he even question or joke about them are they not human too"

there is no winning. Of course again his jokes could be better written. I don't think he is putting the LGBT community against black people but I understand how others can feel differently. Again Jessica Gender video on the topic is well done

some of you guys have such inconsistent ideologies

  • Okay Yeah

    Fr what a f***ing idiot

I mean this idea of " words and support can directly lead to violence or giving someone a platform" was huge under Trump presidency and some accuse Kanye of it.

I think putting the actions on the people DOING THE VIOLENCE and listening to why they are risking their entire future and FREEDOM to do those acts of senseless violence. I guarantee very few will say "well I watched a Chappelle special and thats when I knew it was okay to commit violence against another human being".

These people aren't the bible or quran. Do some feel more comfortable openly hating ? yes but they exist on twitter a place where they hide behind dog profile photos and always ready to espouse hate.

The hates always there partially because platforms let hate breed and breed and breed then profit off of it

People that bring up trans violence once a year in reaction to a comedy special telling people that discuss trans violence all year they have inconsistent morals

  • Okay Yeah

I talk about trans topics all year long. Trans suicide rate, homelessness, gender reassignment surgery(the consistent surge to gofundme to ask for funds to get it because its a privilege to get the procedure), the fact that someone can be trans and have no gender reassignment surgery or wig or anything they can be trans in their mind without needing or craving reassignment surgery but everyone is different. I discuss all that all year long not "oh Chappelle said this or trans can serve in military" all year long consistently. Seen the "should we have trans MMA fighters if they are M to F " . I have seen all those debates and discussions. People that for the first time this year are discussing the topic

some of my favorite directors nearly committed suicide because the media outted them as trans or because the media gets so consumed with "TELL US EVERYTHING". No trans person owes anyone an explanation of why they transitioned. No trans person should be walking down the street and judged for passing or yelled at "you are so brave". Let them exist and be happy.

That's the part if anything I wish Dave focused on "he did a bit about a human experience" just let them be human without making them some sort of unicorn. Be their friends. They are human like anyone else.

Excluding them from the womans struggle is something that doesn't involve me I am not a woman I don't control how they view trans people s*** there is still a huge stigma against bisexual men by women. Which is all rooted or circles gender roles and places of dominance, submissiveness etc.

Most people will forget this special in 2 weeks or less and not reflect on it as they have most of his specials
