I feel like selling to Netflix or Paramount goes against everything Letterbox is supposed to stand for

Janus and Criterion will 100% both be sold to either Netflix, Paramount, or private equity when Steven Rales passes away so enjoy them while they last

Sure, possibly, among other things such as

Using the website to promote their catalogue of slop
Using the website to control discourse around their films and discourage legitimate criticism while promoting users who favorably review their content
Minimize or even completely erase bad press surrounding their films

Regardless of how you feel about Letterboxd or any of the potential buyers, surely you should recognize the massive conflict of interest that is inherent to a movie studio owning the dominant movie review platform

Yeah and it's a giant pile of garbage

No doubt Letterboxd will be heading down that same path

I only use the site to rate the movies I watch so none of this makes a difference to me but I see what you’re saying
