That New Years footage was needed. Him celebrating New Years with his friends and family right before he drops his debut album that will change his life forever

Yeah, but not for that long imo

Honestly which this took more of a Cherry Bomb documentary approach. Keep some of the extra s*** but also have a lot more recording/Kanye explaining how he thought of ideas for some of the beats and lyrics. We don't need to see them celebrating New Years Day 2004

Nah, I’m more interested in his personality, and off-the-cuff moments.

  • Mar 2, 2022

There's only 3 episodes and like 6 albums/6 years to get through. Just skim over that s***

They kept saying "i thought this was the end of the documentary but...." how was that ending the appropriate ending either tho?

The story is still being written

That Slow Jamz video shoot footage someone posted would deliver this better than watching like 8 minutes of dental surgery and New Years Party footage imo

Ye wasn’t wrong about us being slaves to p*** and d**** and killing.

I disagree with his abortion take tho.

The purpose of this documentary is to show the narrative of how inflated his ego has gotten over the years through the lens of Coodie.

How does showing that bts of Slow Jamz add to the narrative they're portraying?

That Slow Jamz clip was just some MTV Behind the Video type of s*** that wouldn't fit in this.

Was replying to that guy who wants more personality and off the cuff moments. The type of footage in here isn't giving that anyway was my point

  • Mar 2, 2022

Looking forward to watching this tonight

idk Ye playing with the mold of his teeth was pretty off the cuff and funny.

I felt like the ending struggled to wrestle down a tone to land on.

Which hits harder for you - the 8 minutes of him at the dentist and getting dinner or the recording with Jamie and Pharrell's reaction to Through the wire right after? I know which I'm picking. Include some of the former, but prioritize the latter imo. They fill up almost the same amount of time

Also, it kinda would suit that narrative. The way that tweet is worded even gives that impression "Video shoot spirals out of control". Could definitely be seen as Kanye ego tripping when he's just voicing what he wants for the video

It’s a completely different feeling to how it leaves you after the first episode lol.
This just left me worried tbh.

Not disputing that may be a narrative of the doc but

“I’m the closest that hip-hop is getting to God,” Kanye 2005

"Anyone who doesn't give The College Dropout a perfect score is lowering the integrity of the magazine" Kanye 2005

Ego never changed he just got more and more successful

Best scene was when kanye let coodie in the club with him after the mental break down

I remember the ktt1 thread when this happened and everyone was happy to see ye back to normal

Well we got both of those things in this

What they should've done was added more episodes instead of cramming stuff into 3 episodes.

I'm just saying though, we basically saw all the footage from the Through the Wire video unedited

How can you not appreciate that as a fan?

Agree with more episodes, this thing should've been 6-8 episodes. But it's only 3, so manage the time better. A lot of s*** could've been cut/shortened. Him getting dinner and talking to college kids, friends and family throwing at a New Years Party is the type of footage I'm talking about. Keep that in there but not for so long

Peep Cherry Bomb documentary if you haven't, that's a good balance. Christmas parties and hanging out with his friends but also him explaining what inspired the music and actually recording it

Like the camera tracks his journey from this kinda relateable hungry guy to this insanely successful man who thinks he can run for president. Even if the ego was always there with that success he became that giant for real separate from.us regular folk
