Yep Netflix marketing it this way just so when people watch it they will realise it's nothing like the poster suggests.
It's messed up but their marketing team is genius

The marketing has put a black woman's career at risk, by creating fake outrage.

I agree but Netflix only cares about viewership and $$$
They know exactly what they are doing just going off the outrage you see everywhere
Feel like this is gonna be a Kindergarten lesson to all the people fake mad. “Don’t judge a book by its cover”
It's a sly move to screw over a black creator, at the end of the day only person who'll best any long term consequences for this is the director.

The same way white people reacted to “Dear White People” Netflix trailer is the same way people are reacting to this
Look at the movie cover
The Netflix poster is not the original poster.
Netflix messed up on the advertising and people didn't understand the point of the film (nor did they try).
Apparently the film denounces the hyper sexualisation of young girls, it does not endorse it. The director said it was inspired by her childhood as she was in this type of environment and her young self was oversexualized too.
And, making a movie about something doesn't mean it promotes it.
Soo, we can't make movies about racism because it shows acts of hate ? Or movies about Genocism ?
If you wanted to make a movie that denounces beauty pageants, how would you spin it ? Even Little Miss Sunshine had scenes similar to the ones in this movie, should it be cancelled too ?
Alright, so we should hire the VFX team that worked on the hobbit to make this movie then
To be honest, the thing that bothers me the most is that everyone has bashed this movie and condemned it, but yet no one has seen it.
We don't know if it really hypersexualizes young girls, and neither do we know how the director adresses the subject. All we have is a netflix description that is apparently not representative of the movie at all and a trailer that doesn't really show anything that isn't on tiktok already.
oh nah, no one needs to 11 year old doing s*** like that even if the director is black / muslim / female, anyone can partake in very horrible things
Kinda sad that this is actually a movie talking about the dangers of sexualizing teenagers and kids but oh well

No their marketing team isn't genius they twist the works of people and look how everyone's angry at the filmmaker now lmao
It doesn't defeat the purpose you're supposed to find it disturbing not sexy
If you find it sexy tho well, maybe you're the problem here
I haven't watched the movie and I don't plan on watching it as it doesn't interest me but legit 2 minutes of research gave me all the answers I was searching for regarding this situation, it's Netflixs fault trying to twist a black womans film for shock value
But oh well try to understand a situation better and see tje bigger issues and you're a pedo trying to normalize horrible things lol not gonna argue with you on that subject further than that.
