I understand the backlash or worry that it’s getting too woke or whatever but like mentioned last page they’re removing a lot of the smaller plot threads. Sokka & Katara won’t have as much time spent on them as they did on the animated show
Which is a con in itself, sure, but it’s what happens when you turn a serialized series and condense it into a drama

the original 1st season had a lot of decent kids show saturday morning fluff which is cool but i don’t mind some it being cut for LA
cutting characteristics and plot points for katara and sokka is a bad move though and probably just trying to overcorrect something no one actually cares about

A lot of the character moments come in those fluff episodes which is what made Avatar’s filler different than a lot of other shows filler.
They’re planning an 8 episode season (and I don’t think we have episode length yet), I’m guessing a lot of the run time will be used on Aang & Zuko, their past ghosts, and motivations. Then they have world building to do, explain the history of the ongoing war, and all of the new characters they meet along the way for example Bumi and Northern Water Tribe. All in 8 episodes
I agree it’s not a great move and maybe they should have cut some of the side characters instead but it’s a tough balancing act

Isn’t the point of Sokkas chauvinism that he unlearns it
The more that comes out about the shows characterization and plot the less appealing it sounds lol

It's 8 hours, hour for each episode. There's 20 episodes in the first book which is like 23 minutes each which is a lil less than 8 hours in total. They should have enough time that they shouldn't really even need to cut much or condensed it heavily at all.

They’re adding things too

Ik, I'm saying they're not in a huge crunch of time overall
Yeah this does not sound like a one piece adaptation success. Looking like cowboy bepop levels of bad
Gonna be very hard to replace a lot of humourous and heartfelt plot lines with more heavy handed s*** to make it more serious.
I figured as much
Considering the budget is probably crazy, they can’t afford them “character building / filler” episodes
That’s now how I read “give him the vision” lol

In One Piece, Oda was directly involved. That was the key to its success. In this live-action the original creators left because of "creative differences". We all know what that means.
never like the anime
will check the show out
Not an anime. And it's incredible, I don't understand how it's possible not to like it.

Maybe it not my introduction to shonen ??
Kinda feel like it this is the first ‘shonen’ for the west
Same impact as dragon ball good series but nothing special
Oh wait the OG writers bounce. Yeah this s*** gon be ass like the movie. Lock thread
The OG creators aren’t great writers anyways, the majority of the character development and things that made Avatar stand out came from Aaron Ehasz, his wife, and a few other people that fell out with Bryan and Mike.
It’s part of the reason the quality of LoK is all over the place. Especially the second season.

It’s gonna blow your mind that people in Japan call it anime. Western people delineating whether or not Avatar is anime will always be funny.

The real creative minds who delivered the nearly flawless original series left Bryan and Mike behind a long time ago.
Let’s not forget that they were huge fans of the movie from seeing their early screening until the negative reactions came. They have never really understood what made the show work.
They created an interesting world and interesting characters but the team that made it more than a goofy children’s show fell out with them around 2010.
Since Netflix is already working with Aaron Ehasz for dragon prince, they should have gotten him involved in the Netflix show but I’m sure the terms with paramount or the creators forbade that.

Those guys are the biggest example of lightning in a bottle. They can't do this s*** twice
