Also no one talks about how he has literally made the same types of song his whole career. Literally no growth in his lyrics at all or the way he presents his songs.

Look at The Weeknd for instance, he comes with a new type of genre that he has never explored with every new project

Bro this is the most BS, tired take. The Weeknd makes two types of music, bumble-gum pop and sad r&b/pop. His lyrical content is 100% always about heartbreak or a girl, nothing else, ever.

If you actually listened to the albums you speak on you’d know Chris Brown has dancehall, R&B, afrobeats, trap, EDM, pop, and more on ONE album. The songs are about sex, love, his demons, his daughter, and d****. Way more versatility lyrically and genre-wise.

Where is his Confessions? Where is his Bad? His Purple Rain?

I'm waiting for a career defining album that is not like throwing a plate of genre bait to the wall and seeing what sticks.

An album with a creative direction, not just a collection of singles

the conversation around him as an artist is based on songs that are like 10+ years old and how “talented” he is despite those talents not translating into above average music.

If he had done what was necessary to come back from the rihanna s*** he wouldve been a bigger artist but he’d never be an especially good one.

Okay I’ll give you that The Weeknd does either sad corny bubble gum pop or “dark” sad r&b songs or washed up trap songs. BUT he presents these songs in always a different form! The lyrics mights be basic or over played but the way he sings, the beats he uses, the production, the cadence is his voice is ALWAYS refreshing

Chris brown has never done anything experimental. Also his rap songs are either about s***or violence and he has the same flow. Same for his songs his subject matter has been the same since 2005 along with with his song structure, delivery, tone, etc. a 20202 Chris brown song sounds the same as a 2007 Chris brown

    He simply hasn’t matured

That’s what I have been saying but clearly these users aren’t mature enough to understand my point lmao

These 40 song albums hes been dropping for 2-3 years are proof enough he has absolutely no actual ideas artistically whatsoever. Hes just making a lot of s***.

He has not artistic direction. I think he just lets the coke dictate what he’s doing musically at this point

I guess you conceded that Chris Brown is creatively stagnant and on cocaine.

    Respect.

Definitely not on cocaine after having two children. Also not stagnant. His albums have literal 10/10 gems, but he’s lacking direction

I don’t even like his music and I never did, but honestly he shoulda never been buried for that s*** in the first place.

Didn’t Rihanna admit she was straight stealing off on this mf’s face while he was at the wheel?

Let a b**** do me like that and I’m goin Breezy too.

Rihanna is a major b**** tbh

She is fake af and literally does everything for her own benefit. It sucks that his career was partially ruined and she was un touched. B**** also tried to re-ignite the feud two years later by releasing we found love music video

LeBron could have more rings than Jordan if he didn’t f*** up that Mavs game and had a better supporting cast at various points in Cleveland

Chris never having that Quincy/Timbo/Neptunes/Jermaine Dupri/Babyface/Teddy Riley/Jam & Lewis figure has held him back album wise. His albums are too all over the place direction wise to live up to his potential (not just his finesse the streaming system albums)

Fam had a f***ing gum commercial. He woulda been a global name fam.

His music gets more generic sometimes but he’s the last nigga to be in that Usher MJ convo and a generation of kids remember him for various things so that makes him an icon
