How do the rules work with pitting and the safety car? If you put before you get behind the safety car you don’t lose your track position?

whats great about hamilton is that he kept driving at his best even with no competition lately. his only rival is himself basically and improving against his own high standard.

for comparison, Senna didnt maintain his heights after Prost retired (1st time). and to cross sports, MJ might've left basketball in 93 b/c he had nobody left to beat and couldn't find that motivation to keep going as hard.

I feel like in most sports, you need 2 guys vying for the top, in order to create greatness.

so special credit to lewis for doing it on his own.

What do you mean Senna didn't maintain?

He poled three times in a Williams that simply wasn't up to the Bennetton standard in 1994?

And drove a great 1992. It's a myth that was a bad season by Senna.

soon as Prost left, 92, Senna eased up. car might've been at fault, but 93>92 when Prost came back.

my pt is that if Prost stays in the mix in 92, Senna probably wins or pushes him / each other to the final race.

tbh even though 93 is seen as one of senna's best ever seasons, he was relatively equal in terms of performance in 92.
92 was more down to bad reliability and misfortune which made the points gap between him and berger seem close. Some of senna's best drives came in the summer of that season.

Great to see F1 sticking to their diversity of racing in absolute s***hole counties with terrible human rights records
