I like the song, but it's very much to me like a B-Side to evermore. Majority of evermore was stronger and more experimental than this.
i don’t even think this album gonna even be mid this gonna be trash. the cover art is egregious and these singles are jus dull must be everboring/folksnore cutting room floor demos
Invisible String, Dorothea, Happiness, Closure, and Right Where You Left Me from Folklore/Evermore were all intended to be Big Red Machine songs.
I know Dorothea was on early tracklist and Aaron played Happiness before. But what's your source on other songs being intended for BRM?
All these single made me appreciate their first album even more. It's cool when artists move on and change artistic direction but yeah, this album prob won't be for me, too much straightforward pop and not enough Justin's voice.
This one still gonna be bop though
this why she don’t sound out of place on any kind of production her voice is so dull that she can sing on pop or indie or whatever production
if anyone else in the indie scene had those instrumentals it woulda been a way better album with either one cos she not a very strong songwriter as well imo
miss when Justin was actually making inspired music, this BRM s*** + the last Bon Iver album are just not having the desired effect they’re supposed to. or maybe I’ve just outgrown his shtick.
The 3 singles are actually good nothing mind blowing but I kinda dig each one of them even the T.Swift song
I love the National.
I love Taylor.
I fw folklore and some songs on evermore are brilliant imo.
Renegade sounds like Long story short, the last great american dynasty and exile/evermore. The lyrics aren’t good.
I tapped on your window
On the darkest night
The shape of you
Was jagged and weak
There was nowhere for me to stay
But I stayed anyway
If I would have know
How many pieces you had crumbled into
I might have left them lay
Are you really gonna talk about timing
In times like these
Let all your damage damage me
Carry your baggage up my street
Making your future history
It’s time
We’ve come a long way
Open the blinds
Let me see your face
You wouldn’t be the first renegade
To need somebody
Is it insensitive for me to say
‘Get your s*** together’
So I can love you
Is it really your anxiety that stops you from giving everything
Or do you just not want to
I tapped…
… stayed anyway
Your fire missed
Cause you hate yourself
But do you know
You’re demolishing me
And you squeeze my hand
When you’re about to leave
Are you really gonna talk
About timing
I mean for any début indie record this has potential. But from Taylor it’s just lazy.
Least fav of the bunch here just bc of how much is going on. Maybe I'm alone.
Signed CD's by Dessner are on the online store now.

Was bummed by this at first. But I think it starts to grow on me. Love how they got different vocal parts play at the same time in chorus.
Song sounds kinda detached from itself to me. It feels in how Ilseys' voice sounds- especially when additional vocal track kickin in), or instrumentation which feels more chaotic, closer to first album.
Where's Reese though, Aaron?
You can't let this perfect summer bop enter my life when the coldest times arrive upon us..
Shocked this hasnt leaked. Tons of people are getting their albums early. I got my signed CD today but dont want to open it

So there’s no way you can share it? I saw people receiving it early too, but still no signs of a leak

Yeah, nah, I'm gonna keep it in its packaging I think. I'm a huge fan of the Dessners.
