bro I just checked how tf you been banned so many times
spill the tea sis
You thinking more or less?
I think he could’ve done 200 with a proper rollout
he would’ve needed a hit or 2 beforehand to reach 300

Yeah I probs skewed to high on his first week
Still would have been much higher than this tho

I think just giving each track actual names & having decent cover art could’ve gone a long way too

Maybe he has a bigger plan? I mean he did have all those cover choices on his website? And it looked like people could vote? Seems weird if all of that was meaningless.
Some people seem to think this post is supposed to be some sort of hate or something but it's actually the complete opposite
I think it's frustrating how much potential was just thrown out just so he could do his weird mysterious gimmick. The album is great but a lot of people just won't even listen to it because of that s*** which just sucks.
Well he is the last person to care about sales tbh. Dude doesn't even have titles for his songs on there. Extra ass.

F*** you, Paul Denino.

the fan in me would like to think there’s more to come,
but he also strikes me as the type to truly not give a f*** about sales or industry standards, so this kinda of seems on brand with his personality
I’m not a stan, but if I was I’d kinda be pissed
i dont think he wanted it to be a mainstream success
Gambino fans be like “he didn’t want anyone to hear the album he worked on and released to the public”
He doesn’t want anyone to listen to it so much that he released paid ads on IG from his personal account for the album
Given how this was done I’d say he wasn’t aiming for sales.
I agree with your overall point and it applies to Jay, not much Bino
Gambino after releasing his album via a livestream on his website early Sunday morning instead of on Friday on streaming like a normal artist

I dunno man what's the point of putting up paid ads and having a photographer do a shoot with you then?

I mean idk I’m just assuming. But yeah this mystery stuff gotta go regardless it’s never been good

he just tryna release his art bro
😔
I really dunno what u guys that say its a masterpiece are hearing
Can barely get through it
I think it's pretty clear that he went out of his way to tank his sales
. Releasing on a sunday
. Putting your entire album out for free the week before
. Your album being free on torrents a week prior being your entire marketing
. No real song titles minus the singles
. No cover
. No real album title
But the question is why tho? He could have easily sold 250k-300k first week, he had crazy hype and even did Coachella last year..it just makes no sense to me.
I don't even understand why a label would agree to tanking there potential sales in the first place..very strange.
Quality project tho.
maybe they thought the power of his fanbase would be enough
"We wanted the sonics to have something warm, something familiar. Also we wanted to not get wrapped up in giving people hits and make this big thing. A big part of this is community. We want it to be an album you can share with your grandmother and an album you can share with your kids. You can include your family in it. That was more of a goal than, “make a single." - DJ Dahi (Producer of 9 tracks on the album)
Y'all still weird as s*** about numbers...and this thread is even more weird coming from someone with a Rocky avy. Like his last album isn't considered a flop

What mysterious gimmick? Just releasing music?
