I dunno man what's the point of putting up paid ads and having a photographer do a shoot with you then?
Igor avi on ig
talk about mysterious
Nigga if you want "mysterious gimmick" just look at the Testing rollout
I love Testing but forreal what the f*** are you even talking about now

Damn his son got straight up White people hair
I think it's pretty clear that he went out of his way to tank his sales
. Releasing on a sunday
. Putting your entire album out for free the week before
. Your album being free on torrents a week prior being your entire marketing
. No real song titles minus the singles
. No cover
. No real album title
But the question is why tho? He could have easily sold 250k-300k first week, he had crazy hype and even did Coachella last year..it just makes no sense to me.
I don't even understand why a label would agree to tanking there potential sales in the first place..very strange.
Quality project tho.
it means there is more.

I love how people just assume I love testing just because of my avi
testing and the entire rollout that came with it was absolute dogshit
nice try tho
This might perform worse than Camp
Didn't flop as hard as earl sweatshirt

The answers to most of your questions are actually in this interview with Dahi
rollingstone.com/music/music-features/childish-gambino-album-dj-dahi-interview-970222
The songs with the most streams on Spotify have around 1.5 million streams rn and the lowest performing songs go as low as 400k streams
That's... not good at all. Jay Electronica had similar streaming numbers in the same time frame and he sold 28k fw (shorter album though)
Let this be a lesson for all artists out there. These corny mysterious gimmicks are just not worth it. The album is amazing but this rollout truly ruined the success of it.
Isn't he in a dispute with his label, probably purposely self sabotaging

Regardless, you still have a Rocky avy. Dude has been known for gimmicks since ALLA. So I don't know what you're complaining about.

all his rollouts pre-testing have been cookie cutter rap album rollouts

Only theory that makes sense in my head is that he wants to save all of his quality ideas for the music he’ll be putting out in the future as Donald Glover. All of his fans put so much importance into gambino as an era that they probably expect some type of grandiose last album, but Donald himself probably didnt want that.

you're aware labels can promote thru sponsored posts right

The nigga went to f***in Oxford to discuss "art-rap" and looked like a f***in idiot tryna act smarter than he is
People still roast him for s*** he said in that interview, along with other interviews where he's acting like some Renaissance rapper
Again, ALLA is another album I like from Rocky, but his whole gimmick was goofy, and I feel like that was a big part why people didn't take that album seriously when it dropped initially
I dunno man what's the point of putting up paid ads and having a photographer do a shoot with you then?
he’s signed to a f***ing record label lmao
man said 300k
I dont think you understand just how much hype glover had in 2018 lol
Some people seem to think this post is supposed to be some sort of hate or something but it's actually the complete opposite
I think it's frustrating how much potential was just thrown out just so he could do his weird mysterious gimmick. The album is great but a lot of people just won't even listen to it because of that s*** which just sucks.
dude it literally doesn’t affect you at all lmao? who does this hurt besides RCA???
