When 4YEO dropped the hate was off the charts online. Like I didn’t see anything positive about the album for weeks except from stans. Since then it’s been remembered as more lukewarm but I remember when it dropped every single comment was about falling asleep to it. Didn’t help it dropped at the peak or “you need a certain level of intelligence” memes sparking Cole backlash

I think Cole is in general insanely jaded about politics and social activism since like 2018-19. He was on that wave for a long time, remember he even did the whole prison jumper on tour thing and quietly marched in several protests and stuff, but idk something def happened that pushed him over the edge. I have a feeling he got caught up in people posting dumb s*** online
