The fake activists/they'd like it if we stayed oppressed bar sounds like it's towards BLM organization
Nah it’s kendrick
.......am I missing something about this bar? Are people really blown away by this? Please tell me they aren't.
Nah I don’t disagree I’m just saying there’s always a gap between “hip hop discussion circles”, “public discussion”, and then the people actually listening to music. I like J Cole so i don’t mean this in an insulting way, more just a discussion of general reception
Just as there’s millions of people online disliking, there’s millions of people in real life enjoying it, attending shows, and buying merch. Can’t use one factor to determine the overall impact when those comments online don’t consider the overall impact of the album.
He did 492k first week with a week of promo, a HBO documentary and no singles and a classic rap song debuting #7. The album was a success no matter what them internet niggas claim
Lol you think this was better than what Drake did on the Harlow record? Ruined that boys life
I don't see how that's related but Drake on Churchill Downs is untouchable. We really haven't heard Cole rap in that tier in his career yet to really compare
I think Cole is in general insanely jaded about politics and social activism since like 2018-19. He was on that wave for a long time, remember he even did the whole prison jumper on tour thing and quietly marched in several protests and stuff, but idk something def happened that pushed him over the edge. I have a feeling he got caught up in people posting dumb s*** online
I could tell the backlash from the KOD album motivated him to shred through tracks and push himself more. Since then he’s been at it with ROTD3, The Off Season, and current feature run. Can’t wait to see what he got in store for The Fall Off

They are

NoName imo
Not really.. if it’s a legacy act like Kendrick, Cole or Drake people are mainly going because it’s them and not necessarily the album
The album came out 5 years into his mainstream career
Y'all chasing relevance it's Evidence by the way you Step.
Cole confirmed on the next Step Brothers album with Alc and Evidence
Freddie last project was produced by Alchemist, last song is called All Glass slang for meth. First thing he says is "Stepping" on this s***, sliding on this s***
Ends with a Breaking Bad sample
Probably reaching but Cole could be going at Freddie

That J.Cole & NoName beef has Drake Vs Pusha T potential. That s*** has been brewing for years. It's only a matter of time before things pop off
