First time I heard it was in a poke place the other day. It struck me cause it was oddly catchy af, and I just chalked it up to being a recent Miley Cyrus album cut from her most recent album that would’ve been a smash if she didn’t lose her cultural cache - cause why would there be some random new Miley song playing. Then some time later I see this thread and find out it’s a new song! Lol

BTW there is an album coming March 10, Endless Summer Vacation

  • Jan 17, 2023

I don’t think the When I Was Your Man “response” was intentional at all btw. I think industry hitmaking methodology just got exposed and that’s the lowkey PR driven story being pushed on social media after the fact to avoid copyright infringement (a story of which also gives the song a juicy pathos)

As much as the current pop resurgence is a result of the (predictable) infrastructural reset with radio’s increased chart weight, I don’t think that’s the root of it. Perhaps the general public started to gravitate back towards pop (probably growing tired of current mainstream hiphop as well), and the data across platforms started to rapidly trends towards that. In response…radio got weighted more on the charts to reflect this
