To be written by Nick Bilton, the film focuses on a turbulent time on the island paradise when an aspiring mob boss battled rival crime factions to wrest control of the underworld of the Hawaiian islands. It was a bloody battle, the kind of terrain Scorsese covered in both Goodfellas and The Departed. In 1960s and 70s Hawaii, this formidable and charismatic mob boss rises to build the islands’ most powerful criminal empire, waging a brutal war against mainland corporations and rival syndicates while fighting to preserve his ancestral land. It’s based on the untold true story of a man who fought to preserve his homeland through a ruthless quest for absolute power — igniting the last great American mob saga, where the war for cultural survival takes place in the unlikeliest of places: paradise.

Hobbs villain arc
Nolan with Tom Holland
Scorsese with The Rock
Maybe that story about IG followers and casting is true

Marty and Luca competing to see who can announce the most projects
I think the rock with his size and charisma could play a terrifying villain in a supporting role
Man The Rock gets a lot of hate and maybe he’s picked up some s*** roles but I think he’s a great performer. I look forward to what Martin does with him. Leonardo never fails so that’s an automatic win/win
I see the potential

do you think he is / has the potential to be a better actor than bautista?
Love this
Crazy that up until this point the director Dwayne has surrendered the most to is Michael Bay
In of course
This also makes me think Smashing Machine is good to great because I imagine Marty would of had to have seen it already before casting both leads

apparently Dwayne (and Emily) came to Marty & Leo with the idea, which makes sense given the synopsis

I refuse to believe generational directors like them have to go at it like that
In like a mf
Rock gotta deliver the best performance ever and let Scorsese cook.
Sounds cool. However the details seem sketchy meaning will Scorsese actually direct it or will he just be a producer? It doesn't seem like this is concrete but people are acting like Scorsese is signed on to direct.
The first line of the deadline exclusive reads "The hot package in town is a pitch for a Martin Scorsese-directed untitled drama that would star Dwayne Johnson, Leonardo DiCaprio and Emily Blunt."
Notice the words PITCH and WOULD STAR
