I think the main issue with Drake now is the repetitive subject matter. He can try every genre under the sun, collect a bunch of different flows and cadences like infinity stones and rap as well as he has in the past. All that don't matter if he is saying the same things he been saying for the past 10 years.

The fact that this is quintessential Drake is the problem. People want him to evolve and expound his subject matter outside of strictly himself and if He still needs to do that at least let it be new s*** about himself he haven't heard a bunch of times. This is why people said Views was "Safe Drake". It's the Drake he knows people fell in love with. Like you said it's relatable Drake but the topic is something we've heard too many times.

Same. I replaced his Finesse with Bryson Tiller's on my playlist. way better imo and I hate that I said that because I used to hate when people would say so and so's cover was better than the original Drake made.

Like obviously if an actual singer sings his singing songs they will having the better singing on it technically but Drake usually has a style he does that just fits the song better for me but not this time. Dude did not sing this song well and the beat,although not bad at all, could have had more spice to it.

You are looking at it the wrong way. It's not about how many he has on one project.... We are talking about his career in general and it's not just his introspective tracks it's all of styles he does. It's bad that you can predict what the artist is going to talk about before the song comes out because it just seems like he has a checklist of s*** he always needs to say ready.

-His problems with his hood/bad girl acting up
-Women doing him dirty
-Love for strippers and money
-His boys and how much he loves them like brothers
-The opps
-How much his fame has changed people around him
-Loyalty towards him

No matter how good the song is, if it's the same subject matter rapped and sang in a similar way then it's just songs cosplaying as older songs. And it's even worse if the song musically ain't as good as the older the songs.

The people wants him to talk about new things and have songs centered around different s***. Although I really would like more conscious music from him, he really doesn't have to do that.

His R&B music is usually emo and s*** which is quintessential Drake. How about a love song? I think Nice For What was so well received because it was a really positive song uplifting hardworking women in general and not just another song where is complaing about some stripper/ig model doing him dirty.

His Rap music is usually braggadocio or talking about fake niggas and the opps and his boys etc etc. How about a rap song where he is talking from the perspective of Mario and how annoying it is to Rescue peach all the time or some s***

Point is Drake needs to be more creative with his subject matter. It doesn't have to deviate too much but it definitely should happen a lot more than it does now because he hardly does it right now. Over the course of a decade.

The fact is songs are getting into people's hands and the level at which that is happening is not some phenomenon that Drake isn't aware of or caught off guard by as you imply. Leaks are part of the culture now and Drake follows those trends closely. Doesn't mean he is leaking them himself it could be as simple as letting the lower tier shiet go where it goes.

And that’s the problem, this behavior incentivizes Drake to give us more safe songs like these opposed to taking more risks and giving us song like Vital, HOWGH or Feel no Ways
