I would honestly include IMF & NFW to that list as well but they were in my opinion a new direct for pop rap Drake despite not being that risky/experimental

Feel you, I brought those songs up to mention how he’s always gonna bring something new to his albums, he always caters to each part of his fanbase while always making something new we usually tend to like

I’d rather have him fully commit to bringing something new to the table than revisit an old style he’s done countless times just to appease a few fans

That’s what I’m saying, those time of fans stunt an artists growth

Drake risks making concise projects to appeal to fans that want the same old content

That’s how we end up losing songs like Vital

No such thing as safe songs. It's good or wack.

If all Drake made was love songs that'd be cool with me.

People missing the point, the human condition doesn't change we want the same things and have the same feelings again and again. In one month, year, decade, century, etc it will still be this.

Funny thing is that you're going to neeeeeeeeeeeed me and I knowwwwww

i need to know more on what you guys mean by you want drake to take risk and experiment.

are you talking about his subject matter? cause vital is online with what he always talks about.

or do you want something that sounds totally different than what he's doing now

They want him to rap over Yeezus type beats or jazz horns so they can call it experimental

Ooo wow, now Pitchfork whites can say he experimented and it wasn’t good

Music like this is why most of his fans love him tho, songs like this are what he’s best at and I don’t have a problem with him always having a few songs like this on an album.

He’s always gonna mix between catering to what his fans love and doing a couple songs that are out of the ordinary for him

But he’s already said he wants to make this album as concise as NWTS so we’ll see how he does it

I’m convinced the subject matter will always stay the same but for him to take a different approach to a song & try different production

I think the first beat on Tuscan Leather was something completely left field for me

Child’s play & the first half of Final Fantasy was completely different

    No

It’s just another rap song to me, it’s not bad but nothing crazy

By left field or different approach I’m referring to Keep The Family close, HOWGH, Vital, Childs Play & Feel no Ways

What about That's How You Feel? Interesting production, content and rhyme schemes with a sample as the hook

It’s not much of a bold risk but this is what I’m referring to

Also the song structure was genius in my opinion, the first word of every line was the last word used in the previous line

It's almost like people are so used to this kind of consistent greatness that now it's not whether the music is good anymore they're whining about subject matter

Artists out here whose whole gimmick career is social justice wokeness or using the same flow and "critics" got the nerve to whine.

No rapper has touched this many genres and subgenres as Drake and executed as the best in them. Few artists, even.

"Niggas turn their back on me for no good reason"

Are you kidding me ? So we cant criticize Drake ? I’m just supposed to eat up every single song he released or I’m turning my back on him ?

    You guys are weird

i see what you're saying but i think drake is at the point of his career where his just perfecting and adding variations to his sound.

Not You Too and Time Flies are great examples of songs that are like every other drake tracks but have a new flair to them.

You sound like a casual ass fan making a critique to just make one. It may be that in your own life you're tired and as such project that into the world.

It's like claiming that Drake is too Drakey and shouldn't be Drake anymore... As if you don't realise this is the same reason he's the GOAT to his fans.

Drake's art is personal, which is what his fans want. He does new stuff all the time, musically speaking, but he is still a human and his message will only change as he does - it isn't going to change just because you or other critics have built some kind of narrative about what his career should be like.

If you want that go make it yourself.

Yeah, I didn't notice until like 3rd listen. The problem is those songs never get love on an album and they would be considered "filler" by the mouthbreathers. So I could see why he makes these kind of tracks more often

Lol that’s how you feel is the 19th song on the album, I can see why a lot of people rarely revisit the gem

Scorpion is bloated asl & hard to get through if you’re listening to it in one sitting

Some people are quick to dismiss those tracks because of the fatigue

Final fantasy isn’t even appreciated enough too but it’s another good song

This is such a stupid ass take

You’re mad at me for criticizing my favorite artist and not blindly eating up every song he releases

This isn’t a cult, people have the right to speak their opinions without be ostracized by a bunch of butthurt stans

I guess I'm just weird then lol. Cuz I listen to music when I'm doing things so I just throw on an album and listen all the way through. Long albums are fine to me
