Well maybe him and/or his crew actual reads threads and are willing to take and are appreciative of constructive criticisms from fans? Besides that this is a forum where you discuss things about a topic. Criticism is discussing something about a topic so...
And you STILL haven’t said what you want him to talk about?

His only job is to talk about his kid on the album in a substantial way. Homie is almost three so there should be some significant dad talk on the album. If not it’s an L.

Nobody wanna hear that bullshit

Sounds boring I don’t want a fatherhood album, mention of his child of course because it’s his reality but I don’t need a blow by blow account of changing pampers and late night bottle feeds.

You’re buggin. People are in this thread arguing about growth when dude has a whole child to rap about. I’d like a socially conscious song personally but that’s not his thing so I’m not expecting that from him. What IS his thing is rapping/singing about his personal life. The only major change in his life since creation of Scorpion is that he’s a father. His kids almost 3 now.
March 14 is one of the best, most passionate songs on Scorpion and you don’t want a follow up or two? Or three?
And you STILL haven’t said what you want him to talk about?
Do you actually want to know? I thought you guys were just asking rhetorically because why would it matter what I specifically want him to talk about. Our point is that he has been saying basically the same things for the past decade. Making a song about anything else other than those things would be dope. He said himself that he hasn't given himself time to live life enough between the last couple of projects.
I want to hear new stories, I want to learn new s*** about the person Drake other than money, women (strippers, good/bad girls), his boys, loyalty, his success, etc. And if he does talk about those things still at least make it into a song that's totally different from anything he has done before and not just the 7th incarnation of Marvins Room or Say What's Real. I feel like there has been a lot of s*** thats happened to him that he can make a whole song from but he doesn't at all or it's just a passing bar on a random song.

I’m not talking about him being on some Folding Clothes s***. People can’t criticize him for growth but also not want to hear about his personal life. It is literally the only new thing he logically can and should talk about more. People don’t talk about March 14 as much but it really is one of his best songs. It’s everything great about him with a new perspective. If he doesn’t follow up on that he will be heavily criticized and he’ll deserve it.

No I don’t. No one f***ing cares about these rappers kids man. I hate when Kanye did it and I hate when Jay did it. He can mention it in passing but dedicating entire tracks to his kid would be boring af

I don’t know how old you are, but a lot of his longtime fans are in their late 20s or early 30s. There are a whole lot of people who are having kids now and him speaking to his actual life would be relatable to them.
If not that then what? This is literally HIS thing. From Time, Too Much, the Calm and Look What You’ve Done are all amazing critically acclaimed songs that are about his family. He has an opportunity to continue that tradition with updated subject matter.

I’m 24. I get that a lot of people would be able to relate but it’s just such an uninteresting topic for rappers because they’re f***ing rich. Raising a kid for Drake is not the same as one of us raising a kid especially since he’s only 3. Not like he’s dealing with any personality issues yet besides maybe throwing tantrums

It’s interesting if done right. Nobody is saying he has to make a whole album about about it. I’m just saying that he’s 33, which is old enough to have a more mature perspective, but also young enough to engage in ignorance. He just needs to mix it up.
He had an interesting conversation with Wayne about his concerns with raising his kid while famous. That was real s*** that could be expounded on in a song. I don’t really care what it is for real. I’m just saying he will be criticized if he refuses to speak on his son and he’ll deserve the criticism he gets.
He’s not about to rap about the BLM movement, which could be dope if he really wanted to. The only logical evolution in subject matter would be to dive deeper into his life experiences and open up about fatherhood.
"Previously on Ready to Die"
This is a sample of the first words on Biggie’s album Life After Death in the song “Life after Death”.
Drake said in the Rap Radar interview that Life after Death inspired Scorpion. This corroborates the theory of Need Me being a Scorpion era cut.

The only reason I have no faith in Drake at this point (maybe in the future but not now) is because he’s still doing the same things at 25 at 33 the only major changes are he moved into his house, makes more money and has a child but he’s still rotating the same women, give us the same I’ve got enemies talk and if nothing personally is changing I don’t expect the music to change either. I don’t expect a 4:44 from him but I do expect some maturity and he just doesn’t seem to be there yet. He said he was saving his stories for down the line maybe he will prove us wrong on this next album but honestly my expectations are really low.

need me can't be a scorpion era cut because it was made post scorpion in 2019

I think because Folding Clothes was so boring imo that it put me off him going in that direction but if he executes it well and talks about it in a way that is interesting I wouldn’t be against it. I love March 14th because of the honesty and vulnerability he showed now that I think about it you might be right lol.
His only job is to talk about his kid on the album in a substantial way. Homie is almost three so there should be some significant dad talk on the album. If not it’s an L.
Lmaooo hell no. March 14th was mid. He can keep the dad raps. I don’t need whole tracks about him being a father.
How can anybody hate on march 14th lmao
Song is so under appreciated I can understand why drake wouldnt go in that direction
Cause when he goes into topics like that people just write it off

He better just do it. It kinda got messed up because of the beef but that shouldn’t stop him now.

I didn’t really care for it tbh but I’m sure the beef somewhat influenced my opinion

Fair enough. I am hopeful this next album will be different though since he is taking so much time on it.
March 14 is a good song that I think never had a chance to live as it should have bc it was sabotaged by obvious reasons. Imagine hearing that for the very first time without that beef in way.
But I think this era he has the chance to make a different version(s) of that type song that isn’t infiltrated by a narrative that isn’t his own like March 14th was. And I could be wrong, but I think that is the criticism from others here, that it would be nice to hear those type of things expounded on. I personally don’t want him to beat a dead horse with it every song but at this point in his life, I think it would be nice to hear his perspective on fatherhood beyond surface level. As for his views on love and relationships, I could use some growth and new perspectives. He seems pretty jaded tbh, no pun intended. But at the end of the day it is reflective of the life he actually lives. Think about it, do we truly have a positive love song from Drake? One that isn’t riddled in instability, victimization, pain, and heartbreak? I think we get those songs and growth when he actually decides to live that life. I get the criticisms and frustrations as a fan but I also don’t expect artists, not even my favorites, to grow with me. I hated the constant industry paranoia and opps raps post-Meek til one day I realized it’s really his truth, i.e. just days ago we get Swizz talking out the side of his neck unprovoked.
You just have to grab what you enjoy and leave the rest on the table. More than anything, content-wise I am eager to hear a body of work that won’t be derailed by a beef for the first time in years. Love or hate it, what he says will be exactly what he wanted to say.
Y’all still bumping this? I’m holding off for the album now
