ok but why is Zoomers so obsessed with anime? back in highschool you'd get made fun of for watching/embracing it

    S/o Toonami & DBZ

They started a revolution in the late 90s n early 2000s, & now anime is one pf the biggest foreign markets o America to where even Netflix n s*** produces their own unique series'

Yeah it just became popular n normal as time went on. You even have anime apps soley dedicated to all kinds of anime from any era, year n genre then you also have mainstream apps such as hulu n netflix that has a good chunk of them along with their own created ones.

Anime started to breakthrough in the US thanks to mainly Pokemon & Dragon Ball Z.

Toonami was a block program on Cartoon Network that was after regular CN and before Adult Swim. It was cheaper n easier for companies to license out anime shows from Japan to fill in time slot, so thats what they started to do in the late 90s then a lot in the 2000s. Then other channels like 4Kids n FoxTV would have them, but they would have the more kid friendly one while Toonami would have mostly the teen/adult violent ones.

But yeah youre right, back then you would get clowned on if you knew more than the big 5 & told "youre doing too much n taking it too serious" lmao. Funny that EVERYONE loved n knew DBZ, but would clown the kid knowing bout Code Geauss or sumn. If you knew s*** outside of Pokemon, Yugioh, DBZ, Inyuhasa, YuYu Hakusho, Samurai Champloo, CowboyBebop & Gundam were like the only "cool/normal" ones. Any others then you were considered weird for the most part ๐Ÿ’€

But yeah in the 2010s when streaming & internet became widespread in usa is when it became very commonplace.

So mow its just normal to the gens. Obscure became the regular due to easy access & it being on mainstream ready apps/tv.

I like anime myself, but only action violent ones & psychological political ones. Now everything is accepted from love show to soap opera-like to sports ones etc. its wild, those genres would have never flew even 10 years ago
