...and like half of the songs on Donda have been worked on for at least 2 years or even more.
I hate when people on here saying stuff like this. He kinda always worked like this since CD. He collects ideas, starts working on them and then stops working on them for weeks or months. Later he's going back to his songs and then he's scrapping or finishing them. Nowadays he just makes that more obvious and shows it to the whole world, he doesn't care anymore if it's finished or unfinished. Same with Homecoming. It was literally a demo from 2001 and this song was supposed to be on CD.
They just want to dismiss his music process now that he's taken on more responsibility in other fields
It would shock a lot of people when they learn a lot of the songs on his recent albums are as old as a year or two
for the past 6 years*
Nope, started with Yeezus. It’s a classic album but his #1 priority at that exact time was breaking into high end fashion.
havent listened but just from the points him wanting to outlaw stairs and move to ramps only is such an awesome point to make

I hate that y’all assume niggas don’t know his album process. I’ve been a fan of his since the beginning and you’re lying to yourselves if you think he puts in the SAME amount of effort in creating a body of work that he did before he made fashion his main priority. S***, watch the documentary and that will tell you that the passion he had then mirrors the passion he has for fashion and product NOW.
An album like Donda, while it is a return to form, could have been perfected if he really wanted to. Don’t sit there and tell me he locked himself in the same way he did MBDTF/CD/LR/Graduation and even 808s cause you’re wrong. He also assembles tons of talent to help him write references as to doing it mostly, (emphasis on mostly cause I know y’all will bring up Rhymefest and other niggas) by himself

It's completely normal that he's doing more stuff now. He's 45, gave us 10 solo albums, 2 collab albums and so much more in the span of 18 years. So many artists in this age are stopping doing actively music. Hov's last solo album was in 2017.
People will be shocked when Drake turns 45 and stops doing music actively too. In my opinion we should be happy that Kanye IS still THAT active considering how much he achieved with his music already.
Kanye my 2nd favorite artist of all time but even I know Product & Fashion is his main priorit/passion and that’s okay

He doesn't just have one main priority, it shifts depending on the time. Music isn't his main priority at all times and neither is fashion.
You cannot say with a straight face he's not passionate about his music anymore, no one in their right mind locks themselves in a damn stadium for a month if they're not passionate about it.
Who cares about perfection? He's moved on from that a long time ago. And you mentioning 808s on there is laughable considering he's put more effort in for TLOP, Yeezus, Donda and even JIK than that album

It shows that he constantly has cared about product/fashion all the time. He rarely discusses music in interviews, even on music platforms (Drink Champs was rare)
Once again, I said he spends a few weeks really tapped in musically and that’s OK. He said it himself that he did it to show everyone that he still got it. Someone that’s constantly tapped in as you say, shouldn’t have to do that.
My main point is that it’s okay that he’s tapped into product and fashion because he’s given us some of the best music of ALL TIME. Not many people can say that. The Jeen Yuhs documentary made me realize he did everything he wanted to musically. He wanted to prove people wrong and he did it each time he could.
He’s still in that hunger mode with product and fashion because there’s so many doors to break down there that he hasn’t been able to just yet in his mind.

Not trying to disrepect you but some of y'all need to learn (I had a hard time too) that he isn't young anymore. He started working on CD when he was in his early 20s. Of course he was different at that time because MUSIC was his main passion and it's still his passion. He just wants to do way more.
The truth reality is that he's now old, divorced, has 4 kids, achieved like everything in the music industry and wants to move on now. That happened to a lot of legendary artists. Yeah, 1-2 albums could've been better but at the end nobody cares when it's all said and done. His legacy is way too big to ruin something because when he's not with us anymore, people will praise him for his music, his discography and more for his first six albums. He knows that.
We should be happy that he's doing relatively fine and that we still can expect more music in the future. Keep in reference that while MJ had his biggest hype, he waited 5 years to drop his next album (Thriller was released in 1982 and Bad in 1987).

He talked about music with Joe Rogan, Nick Cannon, Drink Champs, the Jason Lee interview. All within the past 2 years. You have an idea in your head about him shifting away from music to fashion but the facts are not lining up
He had to show people he "still has it" because the previous two albums were really short passion projects with no real intention to have huge hits or steal the show, the opposite of Donda. Not about putting more or less effort, because JIK probably took almost as long to create as Donda
I understand your main point, I'm just saying it's disingenuous to say he's not as passionate about music when just last year after Donda dropped he said he was brought to this earth to create music as his main calling

All you had to do was read my last response to see that I was saying exactly this lol

Can Ye actually go to a dope podcast like the JBP?
It’s a lot of similarities between how him & Joe think, plus Joe is a great conversationalist so we would definitely get a great interview.
