Front office wants to get a youth movement going and Thibs wanted them to get more vets

Thibs & the FO were NEVER on the same page. Thibs played along because an NBA team finally offered him a job after he was ran out of the league.

It's the job of the FO to deliver players that the coach wants. We all knew Kemba and Evan didn't play no defense

But really, why would they jettison veteran players when they made the playoffs largely in part to the veteran play last year? They gotta keep building on that. However, I was never a fan of signing Fournier or Kemba. But continuity and experience need to be a theme with this team, not constant youth. You go with youth when trying to rebuild.

Thibs has never ever been a "youth movement" guy. Even in his first year as the coach of the Bulls, he had 7 players with at least 6 years of experience, and the team got older as time went on and they tried to contend for a chip. Same thing went for Minnesota when they made the playoffs.

I think now's the time to have RJ become the #1, and I do want more playing time for Cam and Q, and it looks like they're posturing for Zion in the future because the timelines line up, but the focus has to be on getting to the playoffs and not more youth development.

They just wanted more shooters around Randle and it failed.

So Grimes will likely be out for 6-8 weeks after a knee injury. Same knee that's been sore and kept him out of a few games a few weeks ago. Feel like all that knee soreness from before is what was leading up to this injury. Could be pretty serious if he was feeling soreness prior to this kinda injury as it could mean that this is just an issue he might have going forward.

The good news after last night's game is that RJ is continuing to show that this is his teams and he deserves the keys. From a scoring perspective he's got it, just a bit frustrating that he can't consistently hit his free throws. He went 14/22 from the line, and if he just made four of those he would've had 50pts. That aside, he was able to get to the basket at will, and him being able to do that against a solid defensive team like the Heat whether they put Jimmy, Bam, Herro, or Lowry on him is a great sign. On top of that, he was doing most of his damage from the right instead of his left. Showing that he is capable of attacking from both sides. All this on recovering sprained ankle
