KAT is also low IQ. Doesn't get in the post as often as he should, makes dumb ass fouls routinely, always complains to refs, lowkey injury prone and is genuinely just soft. People just see a 7 footer shooting 3's and automatically assume the team got better but he is genuinely not that much better than Randle for us to give away Donte and a pick

"KAT is also low IQ. Doesn't get in the post as often as he should, makes dumb ass fouls routinely, always complains to refs and is generally just soft"

Besides the post and softness, this is literally just Randle lmao you swap out the post play for better perimeter shooting. Randle isn't soft, but now he's making dumbass fouls out of frustration or getting T'd up cause he's arguing with refs. S*** that has actually cost Knicks wins at points two seasons ago and last season

"I did, and DiVincenzo averaged more ball handling/initiating offense than over 2/3 of the league."

Yeah because he had to do that out of necessity as a starter since we traded RJ and IQ, then lost Randle and OG. Not because his primary role is a backup ballhandler As good as his season was, it was an anomaly and was not going to be replicated. Even if we didn't trade for KAT. He would've went back to coming off the bench.

And again, I honestly do really believe you did watch the Knicks last season, if you did you would've saw that Randle as secondary ballhandler was not really for the best. He was turning the ball over a ton. The more time Brunson had the ball and the less time Randle had it, the better it was for the Knicks.

I'm speaking more towards the affect of not having ball handlers, over the production y'all had last year. I'm a huge DiVincenzo fan and think he could have various roles but also think he's capable of producing like that consistently

Ju ain't the greatest decision-maker either but he's at least confident in that. He needed to be moved but I don't think giving him and the other primary ball handler away for a big who doesn't protect the rim it's anything more than lateral

They're probably thinking the perimeter defenders will mitigate that rim pressure, but I can't see the Knicks beating Boston or Philly if healthy

Exactly, Randle makes the same mistakes but does it aggressively lmao

Anybody talking about the Knicks losing Randle is a huge loss is definitely openly saying they don't know much about the Knicks.

KAT gives the same rebounding ability as Randle. Is a better perimeter shooter, shooting threes at a higher clip with better percentages and TS. You can't even make the argument about who plays better in the playoffs because Randle only had what? One good game in the playoffs in his time here? Defensively they're really about the same because while KAT isn't the best defender, Randle hardly actually tries on defense. So they're about the same there. The only thing you miss from Randle is his passing and playmaking ability, but you'd rather Brunson with the ball in his hands anyway so that's whatever. And I suppose Randle'd availability is also better than KAT. But after seeing that the Knicks were still good without him...eh.

Randle is not a huge loss. At worst, the trade is a wash because KAT and Randle are so similar outside of KAT's shooting. At best, the Knicks just frontloaded on perimeter shooting and offense, and now Brunson will have three elite level perimeter shooters on the floor with him and now he won't have to share the ball with another ball dominant player on the court.

The only significant loss was Donte and that's because of his impact off the bench and with the second unit.

    Nah.

Ju had grit and toughness going for him. Played through injuries and never backed down. After the OG trade the team went 14-2 with him in the lineup.

KAT been kinda soft his whole career. What is his biggest game winner? Has he hit any of those in 10 seasons? Does he have any memorable games where he just took over and won a game, or made a play that changed the momentum of a game? His highest scoring game came last year and he was the reason they lost that game. He's a numbers guy. As long as he gets his 20 and 10 he's cool with losing.

Can he bang in the post with the bigs? He's a 4 too and needs somebody like Mitch to do the grunt work while he gets his.

They're not exactly the same player.

He was the best player for the Timberwolves against the Nuggets in the playoffs last year and was also locking up Jokic if that counts for anything

And as for playoffs? Well he does literally have stats that back him up being better than Randle in that regard. Gotta count for something.

    Yeah okay.

Tunnel vision spin move that LeBron used to salivate over, bringing up the ball when he shouldn't, trying shoot free throws late in games when he's a bad free throw shooter, poor motor/body language whenever his shot is falling, etc.

Randle can get his own bucket and is an above average play maker for his position, but Randle will more often than not make head scratching decisions in late game situations. Make no mistake I definitely feel that if he was fully healthy last season we make it to the finals and that I'd rather kept what we got instead of doing the KAT trade giving up Divo in the process, but let's not act like Randle doesn't have issues that negatively impacts our ability to win

A factor I can see being apart of this was them not wanting the Nova boys becoming too much of a clique within the team so they broke it up, other players might’ve been rubbed the wrong way

you just wrote a bunch of nonsense

randle brought a s***ty roster to the playoffs and was all nba

kat on that same team doesn’t make the playoffs

getting super granular about randles game on a s***ty roster is literally not relevant. randle of brunson went 11-1
