even if the music isn’t genre defining to you there is something to be said about how so many non kpop fans are gravitating towards this ep.. i dunno what the reason is but they obvs doing something different to connect w all these non kpop fans
like even i don’t fw new kpop like that and i love this s***
and half this thread is full of ppl saying they don’t usually fw kpop
not saying this s*** revolutionary or whatever tho cause i don’t know s*** about modern kpop to even make a statement like that (i grew up on kpop tho don’t get it twisted i just don’t listen to the new s*** like that)
Yea but that’s the point we’re making. Or at least I’m tryna me. They’re appealing to non kpop fans by not making kpop.
It’s fine to appeal to the west but I’m just saying this has been a growing trend over the past 5+ years. I don’t want pop from all over the world to sound similar.
Going forward I hope groups don’t shy away from putting out something like Next Level in favor of something tame and trendy

Man I'm gonna be honest. Kpop is really formuliac, and if you're going to run a formula to the ground, then you need to inject it with other pop music as well.
mostly english lyrics def makes it easier for non koreans to get into this tho
I wouldn't mind if they turn it back into majority Korean lyrics for some songs. They're production is tuned slightly away from being 100% squeaky clean.
