Well upon reading those tweets posted, I don't quite agree with him either. He's either new to the genre or he only listens to like 2 groups. There are tons of other groups who fit the criteria he's hyping newjeans with.

Both covers were so well done it must feel surreal for both sides (moreso the group) to see their song being performed infront of em. Do all guests on this show cover a song of hers when they come on?

even if the music isn’t genre defining to you there is something to be said about how so many non kpop fans are gravitating towards this ep.. i dunno what the reason is but they obvs doing something different to connect w all these non kpop fans

I think this sounds really nice but Pinkpantheress needs to get off the ground and fight back because Newjeans’ producer is trying to steal everything she worked for.

I'd say a major factor is most of it is in English and lots of it is catchy and tik tok ready

Ok fair enough, though I still feel like he is over praising it. I would understand more if he had written this over say OMG and Ditto or hell even their debut EP. And while I do enjoy this EP, it's mostly relying on them having a good grasp on what's "trendy" atm which as the other user said is making short songs with repetitive choruses for tiktok + having more english also helps.

They are one of the few new kpop groups which are clearly trying to appeal more to western audiences (atleast with this ep) ala BP/BTS but I personally hope they don't push themselves too much in that direction cause with those previous two groups the quality does drop a bit even if it is popular.

It is cool to see users who don't normally fw Kpop give this a chance because I do agree that newjeans are one of the best out rn

Hype boy still one of my fave songs I think I've ever heard. First listen blew me away and I listen to that song almost daily (and have for several months now). Could never explain why that song is a 10 for me but I knew that they were it when I heard that song.
