Maybe I just found Miu to be dramatically more captivating than f***ing Miles Teller

I've never met a Miles that wasn't an absolute dork so that might be skewing things
much of CC was a head-scratcher really, nothing was really clear in what's going on. even stuff like the d*** pushing, although that was a minor part
compare that with EP5 in TOTDY, which is a fun episode but in the grand scheme of the world he built it's pretty sterile and flat. it's an easy palatable, simple story with nothing crazy going on, which is why it's the highest rated episode on imdb (not that it's a great metric, but it's still proves something).
i liked that there was absolutely nothing like that in CC
Doesn’t really matter that Ep5 has less going for it in terms of abstractions because other episodes in TOTDY have plenty of that. It’s not like people collectively love that episode for nothing it’s very entertaining and the car chase sequence is incredible and hilarious
Im not trying to downplay CC because i loved it and NWR is on top of his game in his recent era of releases but TOTDY is just on another level for me personally even compared to his other work
The entire final part of 2nd ep is insane
For sure, Jesus and the execution scene was super hard as well
Scores are always on point when NWR works with Cliff Martinez but the OST for TOTDY fits the series perfectly like i honestly can’t think of many instances where the on screen vibe and the music complimented each other so much

I find Miles perfectly cast actually. He’s the ultimate paradox. This premise of this guy dating an underage girl who hates himself and turns to becoming a hitman who targets rapists etc was interesting to see. It worked especially because he looks really young himself and even though he is one of the most vile characters, he’s still set up to root for in some kind of way. You just hope he doesn’t dig himself in a deeper pit of trouble and the NWR silent protag thing works well for his character. You really wonder what HE thinks more often than any of the other NWR characters
The cartel people, especially the main characters Jesus & Yaritza are interesting and have a very out there dynamic
Viggo, who’s sick and taking care of his mother actually seems like one of the few good guys and he feels very sympathetic in this dark world full of scum despite his own mistakes
Damian is a more standard crime lord type of guy but gets to be in some crazy good scenes. And how can i forget about Janey and her bonkers father. Quite the character as well
Also Jena Malone’s character is a nice foreshadowing in terms of the more fantasy aspects Refn would toy with in Copenhagen Cowboy
What i’m trying to say with all this is there’s a lot more than just Miles. More slices of personalities compared to most of his other work. And although mood and feel is always gonna be more important in his projects, i really enjoyed the characters in TOTDY particulary

Wanted to watch TOTDY before this. I thought it was pretty good but the ending was weak as f***. It went absolutely nowhere. Felt like it needed another episode maybe. Linkin wit the ops b**** I did this s*** for Jena Malone

It's perfect, if anything they should have did one episode less and cut out the filler of the final episode, and copypaste the most important parts of the final episode in the episode before
We get closure for pretty much every character
finally watched first episode last night and it was dope but same time refn bedoing too much sometimes
s*** felt like a nwr parody at some points but still fire tho

I adored TOTDY, watched it all in one night when I couldn’t sleep in December and it still lingers in my mind. Such a great reflection of the time it came out. The scene with Viggo shooting up the camp of pedos/nazis is incredible.
