If you can point out where I said kids should be restricted from expressing themselves I’ll cashapp you 30 bucks.

you bringing up an example (you yourself said is wild) of an adult deciding to change their mind about trans surgery.

All I said is that children are more aware of what goes on within themselves and gender/sexuality stuff than their parents realize. I've literally seen this first hand, it's kids in the afterschool program I'm a musical director at that go by they pronouns. Mind you, these niggas are 7 to 11 year old.

Maybe they grow up and realize they're more binary than non-binary or maybe not. The fact is, these kids (especially today) have a way better grasp on gender and sexuality than WE definitely did at their age

and if more parents understood that, maybe more of our people wouldn't be so goddamn depressed and repressed.

Yea see I’m fine with them being assessed and going through all that, I was moreso responding to the original post. Like yes kids are more aware of s*** than parents realize but they also don’t got it all figured either.

And this is a life altering decision that they should be sure they wanna go through with

saying that you feel like a girl or a boy as a child is not a life altering decision man lol.

The context of my original statement had nothing to do with anyone wanting to go under the knife (hence why I'm confused you brought up R Kelly's kid)

I never said they should be restricted though Nigga.

“Maybe they grow up and realize they’re more binary than non - binary or maybe not” is the same exact s*** I’m saying.

I’m saying they should be sure this is a life decision they want to go through with

Correct, I did not know he said that. Preciate y’all filling me in and like I said statement revoked

this is what the guys on the right do. try to make the people s***ting on ne-yo seem crazy, like he's just being reasonable when it comes to parents and surgeries for their children, right?

the guy straight up makes a mockery of trans people by bringing up goldfish. and basically says i won't even recognize how a trans person identifies themselves.

it's never about the surgeries it's just a shield for them to hide their hate behind

...sooo we're saying the same thing.

My original statement is still true lol. Kids have it more figured out than adults do ESPECIALLY because they have room to explore and (in your words) make sure it's really what they wanna do.

When you give a child that chance to express themselves, they experiment, and fall flat on their faces within that expression sometimes. But it's nothing permanent from simple expression so, if they wanna feel how they feel, you give them the chance to solidify that (or not)

Ne-Yo real for standing up to the man
He literally said he don’t care if his kids did it but he ain’t no sucka and ain’t gonna act like he got bullied into an apology. The title of the thread is misleading @OP a dirty dude

I hear you. I think on the specific issue of surgeries, a ton of people are split on that. However, you can transition without surgery and the vast amount of trans people will say they knew they were trans from a very young age. I’m in the camp of transition whenever and do surgeries at 18 but I totally can see how it’s s***ty that someone who knew they were trans when they were 10 had to go through their formative years not feeling 100% just because of a 2% chance they were wrong. De-transition stories are real and valid but they are rare and they aren’t all horror stories. I see both sides.

And why do they always describe racism, transphobia, xenophobia, etc under the guise of an "opinion"? Hating other genders and races isn't an opinion and getting called out for it isn't bullying. God these snowflakes act like this is a playground and they should be treated like kindergarten children like nigga you is 43 years old. Act like it

maybe he feels like the idea of being born into the incorrect body is just the opinion of a vocal minority

I believe his comment was that, as a parent, he wouldn't let a 12yr old make the decision if they want to transition or not?

    Because thats a life-changing decision

Call me crazy, but what type of parent would just let their child make that decision at that age

He did not even say anything offensive to the LGBTQ, why does he have to apologize lmaoooo???

    Sounding real homophobic breh.

On the real it shouldn't be controversial to say hey Im not gonna let my child make this life altering decision at 12 years old. They might be influenced by the current times.

If they feel that way when they're an adult then yeah go for it.

Sick of this narcissistic BS that everyone is entitled to their opinion, no matter how uninformed or antisocial it may be. No, you don't have the right to be loud and stupid. You don't have the right to spread bigoted nonsense. Sit down and shut up.

Yeah I think in the case of Ne-Yo he was just being a hateful d***head. But yea I’m moreso in the case of transition whenever and do surgeries as an adult.

This whole subject is touchy though. I just feel like it should be handled with care and we shouldn’t brush kids off or just rush s*** either, especially when this experience would be different for each one involved

Ne-Yo may not realize that people transition without surgery, and some trans people rather never get a surgery and are happy how they are. Transitioning without surgery may look like using the right pronouns, going by a more gender affirming name, wearing clothes that better suit you, and just generally being accepted as the gender you really are by those around you. Surgery is an additional optional step and while serious, it is possible to de-transition if necessary. Some intersex people have even had to do so for health reasons.
