Hypotheticals create a lot of controversy for the fact that it can happen (science is probably the biggest one), especially if it already has, which is the case for what's happening right now. This isn't some new blog gimmick and it certainly isn't wrong for voicing concern either.

It seems backwards and that's all people are commenting on lol.

Just look at the first couple of posts in this thread, people are acting like the basquiat is already destroyed, and that the sale of an nft requires the owner to 50/50 keep the original or destroy it, and using it as leverage to invalidate the work people in the crypto industry are doing (can be found the Twitter replies since you so obviously need help)

I’m not going to be upset over an auction of let’s say a limited edition Nissan r34 gtr because of the possibility of someone crashing it/destroying it/vandalising it

The first couple of posts are not doing that at all.

They are literally saying, like I have, that it's a stupid thing to do because it's already happened to an art piece.

It's not that serious or controversial of a reaction to have lol.

You literally just quoted people that call the act of destroying artwork for a digital version "stupid", like I just said they were. That's what I've been saying. Nothing else.

It is stupid. I didn’t say it wasn’t, it’s the fact that people are talking like this basquiat is about to meet its end date, because its an nft

  • Apr 28, 2021

Last post, just destroy the basquiat man

    ....

People are reacting with it being stupid because the original drawing has the possibility to be physically destroyed just as an artwork was previously.

There is nothing wrong with that, as you've just agreed by saying it is stupid.

No argument to be had there at all. If that's what you thought before then why were you even questioning it originally lol.

Thing thing is that this article is framing this news as an anti crypto/nft issue.

Sure it's possible just like it's possible that if someone brought a physical basquiat there's a possibility of destroying it just to destroy it. But no article is being made out of that. The reason is that people in general don't have an issue with buying physical art but it's the opposite for NFT. The article is just F.U.D

That first part can be true, but that's not what I was responding to.

I responded to a poster asking why people were acting like the art was already destroyed, only to end up saying the same thing I was saying.

They might destroy some of basquiats artwork so that the nft version is the only one left

Ya'll are sheep buying into mainstream media's narrative of blockchain technology being bad for the environment. The elites are investing into this s*** while slandering it at the same time to make sure they get their hands on it and not us

It's definitely bad for the environment which is only one of the many reasons why it won't replace paper currency

Electricity is energy. Where does the energy come from? Certainly not out of thin air. Usually fossil fuels or nuclear power is used to generate it. Not exactly environmentally friendly but not that bad either

It's pretty bad when u consider pollution and climate change
