I wonder if she'll go full r&b/pop next album or if she'll go more hip hop/rap heavy.
She can actually rap if you go back to when she very first came out
I haven’t listened to any Lizzo tbh so if you wanna put me onto some.
But yea I always saw her more as a r&b artist but I’ve definitely heard that she used to rap.
Also I think you’re right about casual female listeners. I think this decade will be a lot bigger for female artists tho.
definitely. it's all gonna be hip hop's way of balancing out the misogyny of a lot of the genre's biggest artists if we're honest.
I mean rappers get away with all types of s*** nobody else is in 2020
I feel like Pink Friday can be seen as a classic for it's success and what a landmark era it felt like for a female rapper at the time.
Quality wise, the album has lots of mid and horrible aging songs though. The issue with Nicki seems to always be her albums have too much filler, and age badly. She is a feature artist honestly, when it comes to her own work it's always a tossup.
Pink Friday is the closest thing in her discog to being a classic imo.
But I still don't know if it 100% is.
Idt it is.

well like the song that blew her up was this

whether you like her as a rapper or not, it's clear she'd have the vocal ability to pull off a whole mainstream rap album if she wanted to
she's been around for a while really. I heard of her first in 2013. she's pretty old to be only making her mainstream crossover now. I like to see older artists break through like that tho. It's rediculous that late 20s/early 30s is 'old' in pop music

The future meme is the biggest example lmao
And I love it cuz it’s all in good faith and fun, but girls need some of that representation.
That’s why I loved city boyz vs hot girlz last year. That was some very fun comradery between male and female Hip-Hop artists.

lmao.
that being said I can't stand when indie rock bands talk s*** about hip hop for being behind rock in the evolution of it's attitude to women in their interviews tho.

I can’t stand when white people who don’t consume Hip-Hop culture actively criticize the most surface level aspects of Hip-Hop culture.
Thinking all country music is “tractor music” tier of ignorance.
She doesn’t even have a classic song
moment 4 life, super bass, and anaconda all really iconic songs
If that's not rap (outside of a track like jimmy) then neither are most new rappers in 2020
Fact
I've never listened to an album of hers all the way through so I can't say. But her greatness is in her longevity. There was a period though I wanna say 2014ish, where she was killing all her features n I legitimately felt like she was a top 5 rapper out.
super bass objectively a classic
trashiest classic song of all time, and she probably aint even write it

Pointless thread, tbh.
Not many artists have classic albums.
Nicki, obviously doesn’t.
Lol a lot of artist have classics.
Nicki trash no solo number ones after all this time. 🤦🏾♂️
super bass and anaconda were pretty much #1's, they were only blocked because of how strong the songs at #1 were
I don’t think any female rapper besides Lauryn Hill have undeniable classics
What?? Lol.
