House was already a thing in the late 80s in Europe

Also this common narrative completely ignores how big European producers were for disco music and early electronic music. I get people wanna give black people their props bc of the disco sucks movement being racist but a lot of this narrative around disco is kinda exaggerated. Kraftwerk were the first to do what we can recognize as electronic music, guys like Giorgio Moroder created the sound for Donna Summers, the entire early-80s post-disco genre were Italian dudes writing for black singers like the BB&Q Band or S.O.S. Band

Oh I am not denying Kraftwerk influence on electronic music and was popular with many subcultures. Pretty sure Italian influenced stemmed from lot’s Italians living in NY and exporting that into Europe.

Nicki Minaj didn’t even produce beats lmao, I can obviously tell that origins of hyperpop comes from vapid europop from 80s & 90s along with some MySpace era lyrical content, lol half production is just fast breakbeats

    Techno: Europe

    house: USA

techno was from Berlin club scene then came to Detroit in early 90s and then when house come over to Europe then it became phenomenon

    That’s way I see it

I think in the case of Techno/ House music you should rather see this whole thing as a process and not a „who started it“ debate. It‘s a long way from Autobahn to f***ing One Kiss

The way i see it there were two main influences for the european disco producers

One was soul music especially philly soul and motown

The other was classical music, especially the contemporary classical music, which turned into the first electronic/electroacoustic music. People like Jean-Michel Jarre built on that and had super primitive electronic songs.

This song is from 1973 (notice how it uses the word rap years before rapper's delight)

Those early European pioneers created disco pretty much together with the US, especially using African American singers, best example being Donna Summers

1980s: House was definitely 100% originated in the US. Around this time you had the first synth pop and synth rock too. Post-disco was like you said a lot of Italians working with New Yorkers, this blended into early vocal house later. Also heavily funk influenced of course.

1990s: After that there was a different evolution once house music was played in the balearic islands like ibiza, europe went crazy with electronic music while the USA had more of a focus on pop, r&b and rap. The US had barely electronic music in the 90s, only underground, many being more successful in Europe than in their home country, like Armand van Helden or Todd Edwards or Romanthony.

2000s: Asia's electronic sound came from this jean-michel jarre type experimentation bleeding into their early rock music in the 70s. Their electronic was mostly in combination with rock and pop and it stuck kind of until this day. This song is from 2007, predating the PC Music label by 7 years

that seems like pretty good way explaining it, obviously there was house influence in pop songs such some Madonnas and Kylie Minogue’s singles so it wasn’t totally out people’s consciousness but a lot outsiders see lot of electronic music scene on here as more European thing which correct but it’s deeper then that
