    there are so many points in rap and larger culture that this can stem from

    but keeping it specifically to rap i think the early/mid 2010’s is officially where it became a signifier of being out of touch to criticize certain dudes for not doing traditional rapper things

    Yeat/Nettspend are two recent examples who I’d imagine come to that tweeters mind just thinking about people who kinda take up space to make derivative mindless music that further takes rap from where it is “supposed” to be
