I'm half-Nigerian. I've been listening to Wizkid since he was featured on M.I's "Fast Money, Fast Cars" back in 2008, before he signed to Banky W's label lol.

I know how huge he was back then. I saw him in perform in the UK in 2012/2013. Like I said, he was a superstar in Nigeria and Africa but he hadn't blown up globally. One Dance did that. Even he himself has admitted that. After One Dance is when most of his collabs with international acts started coming in as well.

Drake wrote both his verses. Wizkid wrote the hook (I believe) and his own part of the song.

Wizkid wrote the sampled part on 1:34. The hook is: i need a one dance... wiz didnt write that

Edit: Just peeped the video of wiz playing his song and it had the one dance part aswell but if nineteen85 claims that drake wrote everything except for the sample I can see wiz adding that later to his song

Regardless, both songs hit. I’m sure Drake knew when he was cooking these tracks that they’d be huge at Toronto’s “Caribana” festival that happens annually, and they really were.

Any socafest, afrofest or carribean party, all of Drake’s dancehall songs getting played.

Those songs are timeless. They'll go off at any BBQ/summertime party for the rest of all time. He was smart to get himself songs that fit that mood.

It seems like Wizkid made his own demo to the song afterwards so I don't know. The hook sounds like something Drake came up with so I can't exactly say Wizkid wrote that but he definitely wrote his own part which Drake ended up sampling. Not like any of it even really matters.
