Man the devs sound super confident and passionate (arguably more important when building a game) so I think they will pull off this one.

But anyway THIS is how you announce a freaking game that you know people will be excited over and/or have waited several years for: surprise announcement, no leaks (at least I didn't see any for this but maybe there were)and an actual gameplay debut trailer with a release date of the same year. Devs in article say game is in polishing stage and 70 to 80 percent completed. Other studios would have announced this 5 years ago with a 1:20 minute long non gameplay trailer.

3, and by far the OG. easily emulated via xenia canary and a few tweaks, or on an xbox 360, one or series. barring that, i mentioned how to fix sigma 2 with mods earlier.

theres many for all 3 - but you can play a good amont of them thru xbox/microsoft store incluing ogs

honestly you will probably be fine with sigma if youre not used to it and there are mods for it as well to improve its shortcomings, but yeah as vinu said its not difinitive

og ng2 is great ouutside of quality of life things - and its control scheme can feel outdated if youre not used to that era, but i prefer the og in every other aspect that i can remember

the different versions of ng 3d games are graphics/gore updates, quality of life additions, difficulty changes, added modes, control scheme updates, AI tweaks and/or bonus options.

ninja gaiden black is the definitive of 1 to me and razors edge for ng3 (og ng3 is straight ass)

i will play ng2 remake when i get the chance

ng2 og is hard to get outside of the xbox ecosystem, ng2 sigma (its multi-platform port) has issues - while the others are easier to get and have been ironed out long time ago

they are hard and tough in difficulty - they were the benchmark, meme n callout for difficulty of modern games until demons/dark souls happened

ng is a devil may cry type of hack n slash combo action game (it was its direct rival back in the day) but has a bit more strategy and nuance to it than dmc

help for the remake isnt a big deal imo and way more than likely made it even be a possibility - like toyota and bmw teamed up to make the mdoern supra to create a new platform without eating all the cost and risk, and then they can develop modern sports cars on their own after they upstarted everything

also a lot of the og guys including kamiya are also working on okami 2 that was just announced (another top 10 game for me like ng1) so it seems like theyre in their action bag and arent held back from nintendo which the switch hardware is a major reason for action games getting f***ed up such as bayo 3s ass performance and nmh3 f***ed development
