Dark Samus and Banjo are normal characters. I’d argue Cloud is relatively normal. Shulk is degenerate. Hero is mad fun but also technically degenerate.

I’d just say in regards to those characters that you like to play degenerate characters not that you couldn’t play other characters.

You can’t have a competitively balanced game when it’s close to 100 characters, Sakurai never wanted smash to be competitive either. So yeah from a competitive aspect Melee takes it easily. Y’all the ones who want to be spammed with more characters tho. Can’t ask for hordes of dlc and comeptivr balance

i mean i used to main young link and pikachu but wanted to get better at fighters that aren't so damn popular and i'm a huge dragon quest fan and grew up with banjo on n64 haha so it made sense

We must have different definitions of degenerate. The only degenerate MOVE in the entirety of Melee is Rest and at most levels it doesn’t even matter. Hbox is the only one even getting top 8s with Puff.

Whereas in Ultimate PAC-Man is a degenerate at casual levels, friendly levels, mid level tourney players level, and high level tourney players level.

A “perfect” fox will beat anyone - you’re ignoring the human element of competitive play. A perfect fox is impossible to play and even being good is so technically demanding that he can and will lose to other top characters that have a combo game vs fox down to a flowchart

Melee Fox is also more fun to play than anyone in ultimate
