    Hi-C

Gen 4 is so underrated on this list.

How you gonna put Platinum and HGSS so low on the list

I agree though you outside of the ranking of the initial Gens. I honestly think Sword and Shield are worse than Gen 6. Gen 6 they get a bit of a pass because they were tryna do 3D models on dated hardware and transition the games. It’s not great but it’s okay. Gen 8 is awful simply because they used the same models, slashed content, and upped the price and then said “oh you want a full game? Buy these expansions.” To me, that is a terrible precedent and only shows the decline of the series at this point

Rather have DLC then a third cashed in full priced version that barely changes much at all for most gens. Dunno what you mean by slashed content, unless you mean the "national dex" which they have done before. Where other gen mons or even newer but held back mons are locked away in a 3rd version, side game or remake to get them into the core games.

I dont count remakes part of gens.

Pokemon has always reused models & sprites, only majorly changing here n there.

X y whole region is trash & its the start of the downplaying & over simplifying the series' standards such as battle difficulty, way less mons added & linear design over exploration. If you want to count remakes in a gen, then ORAS was the only true blessing of gen 6.

Gen 4 is overrated to me while still being good. Over half the dex is expanded evos & legends with too many HMs too count & really slow pacing. Still good, but the bottom of the golden gens.

I've been playing since the OG gen 1 on Gameboy Pocket.

    Hi-C

Pretty much my order except last three is 6 7 8. Realistically they’re basically the same though. I think Gen 2 is really slept on in terms of it holding up. If you wanna play OG Pokémon, might as well play that and not Gen 1

    FireRed and HeartGold

if you wanna play the OG stories tbh

    Yesss.

Not amongst my favs but def better than gen 6 & 7 imo. As i said yesterday, its a decent/good middleground.

I also do comp double battling & the online experience/set up of gen 8 is really good too. So that's also a big plus for me.

I do hope gen 9 is an upgrade tho since they are fully settled into the console space now, but overall i enjoy gen 8. I like a lot of the new mons too with Appletun, Centiscorch, Frosmoth, Drednaw & Grimmsnarl being my favs.

My only real gripe with gen 8 is that they could have done more with Crown Tundra's story, especially with the birds.

If we're being fair gen 6 and 7 had all available pokemon at the time and post game content, while gen 8 has no post game content and has left out a lot of pokemon. It only gets more content once you pay 30$ more but then the game costs double what x/y and sun/moon did

  • Feb 14, 2021

Astral Chain is a great game but the platforming aspect is horrendous, the controls don’t feel nimble enough especially when riding the beast legion. If there is a sequel hopefully they fix it or remove it.

That’s exactly my point. Not to mention Gen 6 is a turning point in the series transitioning it from sprite based to 3D models. Let’s be real though 6-8 are all terrible and clearly a step down from 1-5

dude X and Y have the worst post game content of any of the games, and not only did they have no 3rd game there was no DLC either

    so easy to forget

plus Yvetal and Xerneas are trash Pokemon

Well i disagree. Gen 6 had a very interesting post game, especially the mega evolution quest. To get a post game you have to pay 30$ more in pokemon sword and shield when it should've been there in the first place. You did not buy dlc, you bought content they removed to sell it to you later.
Also, yveltal and xerneas being trash pokemon is your opinion, an opinion i 100% disagree with

  • Feb 14, 2021

Had pokemon x and y made the lore more important to the story it would've been a top tier game, they f***ed up heavy. The pokemon war was such an interesting concept im kinda sad its just told to you and never talked about ever again in the game or in the later games

they never said they removed Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra before launch though?

and nobody has ever proved that, you are literally repeating a rumour right?

Yvetal and Xerneas are easily the most forgettable legendaries with the Tapu 4 being the others, pretty sure most Pokemon fans agree that Gens 1-5 have way better legendaries

Mega evo is wack, so are Z Moves and so is Dynamaxing, all 3 of these gimmicks are corny and unorganized and unbalanced

also if you think that making Gens 6 and 7 cost the same as Gen 8 then you're trippin, so much more work had to go into making a TV version of Pokemon

i will admit Gen 9 could do so much better with voice acting, full third person open world, more cinematic gameplay like wild Pokemon fighting or other trainer battles

    but i doubt they will

Why would they say they removed them lmaooo it would've made people angrier than they already were. And you're saying its a rumor but the game itself has 0 post content, a first for the series. It makes you wonder if they were just rumors or if there was some truth to it, and knowing the pokemon company it does feel like something they'd do.

I personally prefer xerneas and yveltal than zacian and zamazenta, the first two have a more interesting background and imo xerneas is one of the best looking legendaries. I find them to be also better than the legendary birds.

I agree all of those arent good but megaevolutions had the potential to be great if they didnt ditch the idea. The lore of megas was very interesting and they brought new designs which i appreciated because most of them were good

in Gen 7 what is the post game content without buying a whole new game?

in Gen 6 what is the post game content besides Mega evo quest?

and how are they different from the post-game Legendary quest in Gen 8?

side note: Yvetal looks more like a Digimon, same with the Ultra Beasts

I wouldnt consider fighting the gym leaders a 2nd time and the legendary hunting thats in every game post game, they take 1 hour or less at most, even gen 6 and 7 have more content. Technically they're only available after you finish the game but its so lackluster compared to the previous games. To me gen 8 feels like a game that could've been great but they kept removing stuff

There are new locations you can go to, including battle arenas, you can collect all z stones, catch legendaries and ultra beasts and finish a way larger pokedex. Its not much i agree, but its not as lackluster as pokemon sword and shield, and if you get Pokémon ultra sun and ultra moon instead you get even more. The reality is post game is almost absent in pokemon games and its been that way starting with gen 7
