i will say there are 2 phenomenal eps in S2 of Korra that do the origin stuff nicely i thought although the rest of it does kinda suck
The Wan episodes were great
Just finished season 1 of Korra
I know Nick f***ed the show up in multiple ways but man the character, interpersonal and romantic writing is so so much weaker than ATLA
I’m just starting now, I’ve never watched the series before. So far I can’t stand Korra lol

That s*** is heat all throughout

Heard he’s a great antagonist. Can’t wait for season 3

Will do. It’s not a BAD show by any means. Just comparing it to ATLA, it’s not nearly as good

He's fantastic
I'm on the last episode and wish I didn't blast through season 3, it's great
There's no reason it should have taken TLK til s3 to become quality
I know Nick f***ed em over but the character and interpersonal/romance writing is shouldn't have been as bad as it was in the first two seasons
Can you elaborate on why you think that about Bumi?
I agree about Bumi being a great character though, one more reason that the liberation of Ba Sing Se should have had at least a full episode
Swamp benders are great too, their leader >>
Forgot to reply to this
Imo, Bumi just has the craziest feats in the entire show. That whole sequence where he liberated Omashu on his own, earthbending whole ass factories off the ground and tossing buildings like they’re nothing 💀
That statue of ozai that was likely some sort of steel/iron probably weighed like 5-6 tons. And he bended it while being kinda far away from it and just flung it off the cliff.
And this might be a hot take, I feel like Bumi would have discovered Metalbending before Toph, but he didn’t because Tophs character was written to do that. If a 12 year old girl has the tools to do it, a guy that lived to be over 100+ years old and jacked beyond belief could do it.
Like I see Bumi tossing around houses and that huge ass metal statue of Ozai - but he can’t pry open a metal door? Really? But Toph has the grip + hand strength + technique? It’s just unrealistic.
And then he’s earthbending using his face 💀.
I think he’s the only guy you can throw in with a comet enhanced and bloodlusted ozai + iroh, and I think he still has a shot despite the big disadvantages. He’s just that strong and unpredictable.
S4 good overall but kind of goes off the rails in the final fight
S3

kind of what the whole series feels like i think. just lesser versions of whatever ATLA was

Even the animation is worse imo.

definitely parts where they got less budget especially after season 1
