Looks like I'll be graduating with a Business degree this summer (fingers crossed).
I'm honestly not sure how.
Problem is I really don't know what I want to do after college.
Eventually I'd like to start my own business, that's always been a goal of mine.
I just don't know how to get there.
I mean my options are endless..
I'm considering doing a Digital Marketing masters, they're inexpensive here in Ireland, I'd commute from my parents house and half the course work is industry placement - putting your skills to work.
I've always chosen the Marketing electives, just because they've been easy for me - I'm not really one for Finance or Economics.
I've considered doing a conversion course/add on in Software Development, ticks all the boxes but I just don't know if I've actually got the head for programming..
I've also just considered going the blue collar route, going back learning a trade or just working with my hands with an aim of one day working for myself..
I really don't know what to do, or where to go from here..
I'm trying to focus on exams at the moment but I can't leave this to one side.

I think as long as you're not in a situation of urgency you can take time to figure things out, it's always better to wait a bit instead of jumping straight into something, you'll figure it out!

You should work in the related field for a few years before even considering going into your own business

I know that’s what I’m saying, I just don’t even know what to start into

Another alternative if u have the capital is to buy a franchise
use the resources that're at your disposal. network and never and I mean never settle.
Weigh the cost of your future. Starting a business? What does profit and loss look like? Best case/worst case scenarios?
Is it somethin u can build while doing another job? What job/skillset translates well into your future business?
come work for my company
BIGGWAVE really jack harlow ( & I hope u forgive me for dry snitching and not capitalizing ur name fam).

Crying
OP u need to follow ur heart if I read OP correctly I feel like ur heart is saying start ur own business but to do so, first u need to follow the bread, if u've always done marketing electives, I presume this is something u do not mind doing for a job? The sooner u stack the bread, the sooner u got that business out of the ground. Of course u could also maybe look into insurance or logistics or something of course more difficult with a marketing degree for them to hire u but I don't know what u want man u say maybe a blue collar job ok u can learn a trade but u making it sound like u do not care for that marketing at all just did it cause it was easy so are u gonna care for the trade this time around u need to sit down and think about ur future we cannot help u with that

Get bread first, whatever comes your way. I'd get a consistent career and then use those funds to start my own pursuits and hopefully the skills and talents you've accrued over time will take you far
All these stories about someone taking a big ass risk aren't real 90% of the time, they had help. If you truly have no help, help yourself.

Thanks butt crack (honestly though, thank you).
The thing is - I just know that I want to one day start my own business.
I just don't know to from - college kid with no idea to - entrepreneur.
Rather than waiting for divine inspiration, I'm trying to get out there and chase it.
I like marketing and I'm good at marketing, more so I'm good at it and it's fine than, I like it and that's why I'm good at it.
As for the trade it's just an in demand skill that I could start a business from - you don't see too many plumbers out of work, but I can't say I care that much for unclogging toilets, but I'd do it for a cheque.
The most successful guy I know started an IT company for schools, he goes around to schools, installs servers, fixes the computers, puts up interactive white boards and projectors.
That's bought him a Ferrari - I don't think he loves pulling cables or hooking up modems.
I think he's a savvy business man that saw an opportunity and jumped at it 10 years ago.
That's what I'm striving for.
You say you want to start your own business but u don’t even know what that would be and you have no work experience?
See what job search resources your school has and message alumni on linkedin that work at companies that seem interesting

I see I see well then personally I would research a bit into what could get you that lifestyle as you already mentioned in your previous post picking up a trade in high demand low supply is a good step towards that I know u mentioned u don't like economics but please bare with me and I think most jobs personally are not about "loving" it but at least not hating it you know, you got to be unclogging them toilets for decades so keep that in mind so of course that'd be a good step high demand low supply and u can be ur own boss own business those are the criteria so it's up to you to look for what other jobs can get you this and then it's up to you to make the decision I suggested for you to work a bit first so you can gather the capital required but if you were to spend some time working in marketing for example perhaps that could also give you some inspiration (read: jack they s*** & modify) because I imagine there will also be a lot of smaller companies with more niche products or services and that could serve as a base for inspiration & capital but of course perhaps u already have the capital but as a young graduate with no work experience personally I don't think some work experience would hurt it could 1. show you you really need to put everything into it if u are serious about this 2. give u an idea about the market u would be entering
