I respect CyHi, and consider him a very talented dude, but anyway I feel like an excuse about why they need so many people in the studio is lame. Jay Z can make an album with No ID which is honestly tighter as a project then TLOP and that's two people team.

Also it's lame because Kanye pisses in Grammies and then CyHi says how they put so much afford just to get the best album award because there they will compete with Adele etc.

Travis is not even like Kanye, Kanye started hire more and more people as he ventured into fashion, design, but it happend late in his carreer after MBDTF and WTT. but Travis is super young and already paying ton of money just so more talented people can cover him up.

Think about how many people in the word can make a hit if they work with Pharrell, Timbaland and other proven people, I'm sure a lot of people who are interested in music can do it with their help, and right marketing, and in this situation, it's not the person who pays them talented, it's them who are talented.

4:44 is great and you're right it is tighter but that's not necessarily the best attribute, something as grand and expansive as MBDTF or TLOP cannot be achieved with one rapper, one producer and one engineer

Adele aint released an album in 6 years, so comparing Kanye going for Grammy's like he did on MBDTF is different to his attitude towards them in 2020

The common thread in Kanye albums is not his collaborators, its Kanye himself, and all his collaborators say its his work on an artistic level that brings it together, not the funds

Even Pharrell had Chad Hugo, and Timbo had Danja, no one makes truly big records by only themselves

MBDTF is a masterpiece and to me looks pretty tight, I didn't say that 4 44 is better then TLOP, I've just said that it's tighter, as you are right it's two different types of albums, but to some degree TLOP is all over the place, although it can be the idea behind it.

Chad and Pharell as well as Timbo and Danja are well known pairs of producers who work together for many years. I'm just thinking that instead of contest who is more talented, it turns into contest who has more money and access. Basically Cyhi said that if we make a F1 a***ogy, that instead of training to become a better racer, they spend money to buy a more expensive and there isn't anything admirable about money spending.

CyHi wasn't really describing ye and JIK when he was talking about big albums, cause both those albums were more homegrown with the production being undertaken by a team similar to how the Neptunes and Timbo/Danja work

he was more of a curator on Yeezus and Pablo of the best producers on the planet, but even then he still had a significant hand in all of the songs and making it all come together well, even if for the most part the initial ideas came from a far wider group
