it's crazy how much folks were s***ting on Ye's relationship with CyHi in that music sxn thread, when CyHI himself says that Ye has done a lot for him and they're clearly great friends.

You know that’s not true. Look at his history with award shows. And also look at the Grammys as a whole. S***s f***ed up.

CyHi wasn't really describing ye and JIK when he was talking about big albums, cause both those albums were more homegrown with the production being undertaken by a team similar to how the Neptunes and Timbo/Danja work

he was more of a curator on Yeezus and Pablo of the best producers on the planet, but even then he still had a significant hand in all of the songs and making it all come together well, even if for the most part the initial ideas came from a far wider group

the way CyHi described the making of these "big albums", its not about building the artists ego, its about creating the best music for the people that can best represent hip-hop, its not about money spending, you can have the biggest budget in the world and the album doesn't turn out as good as Kanye can mould it into

I might be wrong, but I think all that acceptance of writers in rap started when Meek Mill dissed Drake then people sided with Drake, and Kanye with Cyhi suddenly came out like Hey, that's the industry for you.

Before that even people here believed that all people credited are like that dude that came in leather pants, but now we know that Kanye has whole tracks written for him.

I don't agree with you about JIK and YE, Kanye was making songs from JIK for a long time, and we know from Desiigner interview that Kanye has team of people working on music all the time, and he can just sometimes come in to check the material, and he talked about probably Yandhi sesstions. Yeezus and TLOP were better because Kanye cared more about music and dedicated more time to it.

I think that if not the sudden inspiration to write 30 hours, NMPILA, Ultralight Beam, Facts then TLOP would've been just a better Ye. Kanye's decision to add those initially Good Friday tracks to the album was what made it so grandiose.

You're right, budget doesn't solve all the problems but it helps like a lot. In my opinion, influences of this big name producers, including Kanye, get so muffeled, that even though we get nice songs, in the end their role deminishes a lot. It's almost like Ye just wants to work with Timbaland or with some Lil Baby's producer to add him to the credits, but I don't hear Timbaland on Closed on Sundays, on Jesus is Lord.

Do you not understand how all the producers working in one studio through Ye's original vision is different to lots of different producers coming up with ideas completely removed from the situation and giving them to Ye, that's why Yeezus and Pablo are different to ye and JIK, cause many of the tracks were given to him and he wasn't part of the original brainstorming that inspired the producers to come up with ideas

Its hard to quantify "caring" about music, but ye and JIK are passion projects for Ye, he is no longer trying to people please with the albums and is instead making music that he wants to make and feels good for him

You're removing a lot of nuance from situations when collaboration is complex and isn't as simple as a school group project where 1 person did this and 1 person did this, this is high level collaboration with a lot of cross pollination on everything, its not about ego or about having Timbo's name on the credits cause most people don't care about that, it's about the music

Holy f***ing Stanley. Kanye washed, it's ok to admit. Can't even compare this to the Drake s***. Drake writes at least 95% of his own s***
