40 talking bout Drake acting as producer and orchestrating s*** in the lab is incredible.

    Here’s another one:

He has said that countless times it’s just escaping me now. Drake will never pat himself on the back like 40 does him lol but he kinda vaguely delved into in the Semtex interview. Or Zane? I forget

I've forgotten the producer that said Drake never uses a beat exactly the way you send it to him. I think it was DJ Dahi. It's an old clip that used to be on YouTube and he spoke on how he doesn't know anyone else who could have made Worst Behavior out of the beat he sent Drake. He said there would always be changes. Either the drums on one section would be taken off entirely or more bass would be added on one section or something else but there would always be alterations. He explained it as why it's very rare to see only one producer credited on a Drake song. Drake gets the beat and changes up as much of it as he needs to to feel comfortable before he hops on it (I believe they worked on another song that Drake had made several changes to but it didn't make the cut for Nothing Was the Same).

Same. It's also because he isn't JUST a producer. He's an audio engineer first. That part is important. Him also genuinely loving what he does is why he's so passionate about it.

Most "producers" in the game today are just beat makers and drum programmers. They can't play any instruments and don't know s*** about engineering songs. All they do is make beats and send them (not that there's anything wrong with that), but a producer with an engineering background will always be better than someone who only knows how to make beats.

40: The discipline, the hardest part about it is really walking away from those moments. Not being in the studio 4 days straight with my brother. That’s tuff. I miss that. You know? That’s sort of a big sacrifice. I guess I sort of save up that energy til the end of the process. And you know what, whatever, I’ll stay up for the last 2 weeks. You know what I’m saying? Just not for the whole 2 years.

    KD: that’s smart

Eddie: is that where you guys are at right now?

    40: Hahaaaaaaaa

KD: yeah like we got 2 weeks left?

Eddie: is that what you saying?

    KD: til CLB drops.

40: Ah, s***. Idk idk idk.

KD. Nah, just a joke man. I know he can’t let that cat out the bag, man.

40: nah, Of course not, first of all of course not. you guys know I would never do that. But what I’ll tell you is this like: he’s always got it. He had it 8 months ago. He had it 6 months ago. 3 months ago. 10 months ago. He’s always got it. Now does that mean he’s done? Idk s***. He might make 10 songs next week. Idk. Right? But he’s got it. It’s just when he gon pull the trigger? Idk when he gon pull the trigger. He gon pull the trigger when he wants to pull it. But he’s GOT IT. He’s always GOT IT. Whether or not he thinks he’s ready or not, he’s always ready.

KD: I see how you framing this.

Eddie: you’re good at this. I see what happened just now.

40: I’m dead serious. I’m not even playing. I’m f***ing serious. He’s always ready. I’m serious. He’s got a lot of music. He’s good at making music. You guys know this. He’s there. He’s ready. If he has to drop the album tmrw he drops it tmrw. And you have to understand the other thing about Drake is Drake can make the industry move. If Drake says yo like I wanna drop my album on Friday. Yo industry’s gonna jump and it’s coming out Friday. He’s gonna make that call and it’s gonna happen. It doesn’t necessarily gonna have to be all like 3 months in advance and... he’s gonna make it move.

    Yoooo WHAT this is WILD

Freakin incredible. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that clip. Makes me wanna hear the OG version of Worst Behavior so I can really appreciate the final result even more. And I keep screaming I wanna hear Drake on more DJ Dahi and the whole time it’s possible I don’t even like the original beat haha. Will never forget the first time i heard that joint.
