I'm just surprised she outed herself as having seen this. I didn't expect her to unload the clip in the comments. I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't say anything but I definitely can see her teeing off on Twitter for engagement.

its not like she's in some random vid's comments, im sure she mentioned fantano in a song or something at some point
the whole argument of noname being wrong for engaging is strange like why cant she address s***
Did the pandemic kill off every decent graphic designer? What the hell happened to the craft of making album covers
Bugging

I’ll never get people trying to tell artist they can’t respond to reviews
She didn’t even say anything crazy just clarified a point

because (and this is a general statement, not just to noname) you can't go around talking about how white reviewers don't understand your art, don't respect your art, don't deserve to talk about your said art
then turn around and immediately get to yapping at them if they say some s*** about said art that you said they don't understand in the first place.
I said the same thing when Louie from Paris Texas was explaining why he felt fantano gave them a bad score.

I get this but fantano also has a huge audience that are almost cult like, they trust his judgment on music. Artists are sensitive lol, so seeing wrong takes and interpretations being used against ur album by someone with his reach as an underground artist has to be somewhat annoying

i guess but idk. Fantano has a huge audience but Paris Texas still gonna sell out lot of their shows and he killed their new album lmao. Going to the one in Brooklyn.
In that case, admit that you do care what these white people have to say about your art.
Don't pull a Denzel where you act like you above it , just to go mental when s*** doesn't go your way. Is it oochie wally or is it one mic that's all

Well most artist don’t share that sentiment publicly so its not really a contradiction most of the time, and in NoName’s case she didn’t really say anything that contradicts her stance on that
If someone wants to respond to a review whether it be positively or negatively I think that’s their choice just like its the reviewers choice to do the review
Its really not a big deal on either side

She can and maybe she should, but I would hope it's in a constructive way and not on some "didn't ask + you're white" type energy because that's only discrediting the thought she puts into her art

It just gives me a distaste how one white dude has such a pulse on such black music sometimes and our reaction gives him that power.
@Noir it wasn't on some "didnt ask + you're white" type energy at all but she woulda been real af for that lol

I didn't mean in the YouTube comments on this video, just like if she decides to go mask off over on Twitter I'm looking forward to some insight about her writing
She said nothing wrong in the comments, barely anything at all tbh

Yes I read that which is why I said “most artist don’t share that sentiment” before bringing it back to NoName, the whole post is supposed to be read together brotha
Also it really isn’t that big of a deal, its just a dude talking about music and hes been popular for like 12 years. Artist are bound to reply to his reviews. I think acting like hes some real threat to the black community gives him more power than leaving a comment on his video
Don't we all lol
i think if you can have fun and not let the hate get to you, twitter can be pretty cool.
vince staples is amazing on twitter

It's a lost art form. I recently watched that new doc Squaring the Circle (The story of Hipgnosis) and it made me feel very sad for how far we've fallen from that type of care & attention to detail in music.
how?
So I don’t read the name-dropping in the chorus as shots or a fuck these people but it is a pretty plainly stated moment of fact that when these big names engage in benignly American propaganda like the Super Bowl, it’s ultimately serving the military industrial complex that’s killing the world. And she includes herself in that chorus to show she’s done the same thing; justifying a business move that conflicts with her ethics or ideology but results in personal gain and acclaim
To find out it’s actually I’m not tying any morals/ethics to the actions of these artists, they’re just referenced examples I’m pulling from to illustrate that we are all forced to serve this system by doing these performances, including myself kinda undercuts her self-critique and the larger sentiment in general, because the point (as I took it) was that artists, including herself, actually don’t need to be figureheads for these entities & performing at their behest
To go from “we shouldn’t do this, I shouldn’t do this either” to “isn’t it f***ed up how we all have to do this?” seems like it sort of changes something in the sentiment
A lot of this review seemed to be about the things surrounding the album whether than the music itself. Like multiple times he was like this song is good but i disagree with this stance. Like he said Toxic is good but he feels like the dude didn’t do as much as she said because she sounds vindictive. Like you don’t like the song bc of an assumption?
I get some of his points but I don’t feel like you have to agree with everything an artist does to appreciate their art
sounds like typical Fantano bullshit, don’t f*** w that guy at all
