This album being as amazing at it is and not getting any looks online or anywhere else is exactly why I don’t want to hear s*** about music quality.

We have enough independent media to prop up this album.

The same folks that commented on her vs Cole or jay elects verse isn’t discussing the album. But in a few months they will tweet, “rap is derivative and no one has substance anymore”.

1. Kendrick nearly has not gone in depth with certain subjects with women the way Noname has just off the fact that...well bro she's a woman (and no, we not comparing bye Bye baby & toxic & beauty supply to Tammy's Song (which aged horribly btw) or Keisha's Song.

2. Noname's literally just more lyrical (if we just talking \verbiage\, this doesn't have any correlation to do with SKILL) based off the fact she started off as a poet. What song does Kendrick have that is close to afro-futurism? Or blaxploitation?

3. the way they rhyme scheme is different based off #2, Kendrick is more rigid to the beat than Noname's more free flowy style.

4. When it comes to politics, Kendrick is pretty surface level (democrips and rebloodicans) compared to noname in their lyrics when it comes to those themes, this is a fact based on what people literally hate her for even before she got into it with both cole and kendrick.

Of course kendrick can't come out and say what noname does about women because it will be labeled misogyny. And what exactly in these songs does she go in dept about any of these topics.....beauty supply is literally reiterating what hotep men get accused of about preferring natural hair and how they subconsciously think women look better with Eurocentric type hair.

I don't think we have ever discussed lyricism and had a caveat of just verbiage but disregard actual skill. Kendrick is a better storyteller, he is better at tying a topics together, his subject matter is more diverse and has literally stood next to top lyricist and outrapped them several times

I dont think rhyme scheme being different counts for that much. no one rhymes like kendrick. no one rhymes like noname. but I def hear a lot more Kendrick in noname than I do the other way around

noname doesn't have the duty of making her music digestible to millions of listeners bro. noname has also been more vocal online about her politics where with kendrick we only get it through his music...also noname has adjusted her politics over the years...

I just don't see the depth that you are referring too...what exactly in her verse is she breaking down her political views where its more in depth than kendrick...I agree thematically but kendrick also has the onus to make something that translates to the mainstream and noname doesn't.

also I know this a noname thread so I'm not trying to derail but she also can't make songs like FEAR. I don't know how you can listen to that song and say its surface level because is not uber theoretical or full of big words

I never said this is a kendrick album. I would never reduce noname to that.i agreed with one comment that potential interlude Is a song kendrick would make but you would be disingenuous to say you don't hear kendrick at all in any of her style..she is def from his elk....she is..saba is,,,amino is,,,and I think they would agree...

also I think there is where my gripe with listeners comes from because if you think fear isn't political then we don't listen to music with the same ears

FEAR discusses police brutality, section 8, tax fraud, trickle down economics and poverty..
