She also admitted Cole had a point + also admitted she went about things the wrong way on her social media presence especially on twitter.
I do agree alot of the hate her way woulda been there regardless if she was more diplomatic but as a fan who also thinks Sundial was AOTY (I think it was #2 in my rankings that year because kara jackson came out that year), she aint make it easy on herself all the time.
I agree with her getting off X, no one should be there for sure, but she also had a point in the original issue. Cole took it upon himself to respond to (also Kendrick) even though she said nonames & she was also right in the first place lol. She wants to move different for her peace of mind, i'm with it, she deserves it imo

She said he "wasn't necessarily wrong" & that they ideologically disagreed. She wasn't f***ing with the queen tone dogwhistle either, but said they could have came at it differently

She didn’t say she was wrong, she wished she hadn’t responded lol

okay maybe not "admit" but it very much seems that she doesn't agree with her stance she took back in 2021
here's her quote from the yns interview
"I go back and forth with that because on the one hand, I don't feel like the pressure that we do put on rappers is entirely fair. Yeah you know like as much as all of us, no matter what genre you in, should be using our platforms I do feel like with rappers we do expect a lot. Like we definitely be expecting niggas to just basically damn near be actual politicians like you have to stand on something"
then she had a lil back and forth with fans after october 7 where her fans did the same thing she did to cole and Kendrick but tk her. She responded on ig with pretty much with what cole and kendrick and said
she's got it
Noname was not right at all in that whole thing lol she even admitted it herself
noname was 100% right lol, and the past half decade have proven it

What was she right about
What was she right about
u missed it cause she deleted it but she said verbatim: "rappers will diss just to apologize 5 days later at their own festival that s*** crazy"
I was like

then we need to call it for what it is, her walking this back to a degree, trying to reprieve herself of the pressure of being an outwardly political agent in an economic & social system that doesn't privledge it. In a country where we have a dearth of political representation on a meaningful level, people dhould look at artists to speak the truth. I dont think its weird to want depth from artists or want them to speak out on bullshit when it happens, not to protect their on interests as career artists when humanity should come first. she wants to make more vibe music, I will be there for it, & as long as she continues with the book club & doesn't completely lose all sense of criticality in her music, Beauty Supply is a good balance of both, I'm with it

she has a similar arc to my avi, it's not that deep lol. Even in the interview she says political awareness is not just something she can turn off.
focusing all your energy on radical politics and traumatic issues is gonna eventually burn you out especially when you're actively involved in the work in real life dawg.
in a country where we have a dearth of political representation on a meaningful level, people should look at artists to speak the truth

people should learn to be their own heroes, the black children in the 60s realized that.
when artists have been the ones to be turned to to "speak the truth" that is highkey a hilariously bad sign about where we are as far as social awareness goes.

Idk if anyone thinks artists HAVE to speak the truth but it should be way more celebrated than it is, cause it's just not an easy thing to do.

I'm not saying rely on artists solely as the truth tellers. & i agree people should take more responsibility, all across history you can see example of people making those sacrifices effectively on a large & small scale, including the recent ceo killers. I'm not saying she needs to be noname sylvia wynter, but her saying what others don't in eloquent ways is part of why I liked her, even at the outset of the Gypsy loosies

She was being annoying on twitter but the way cole framed it was so b**** made like he just a dumb rapper when hes also at times presented himself as more conscious than his peers and went at them too.... that was his whole thing in fact, thats why I didnt like that s***. Didn't have to be in a song either
But anyways good to see noname evolving in good way and make more music
def was the problem on the last lp but she jus needa find a way to balance the intuitive sound of telefone with her self education.
hopefully this dont mean she'll get less "political" cus.. everything is. she's doing a lot more with the music and organizing than most so twitter grandstanding is a forgivable offense compared to the depraved s*** we got goin on now
