Youre right so perhaps you should go read some books on the topic of abolition.

You don’t need to tell me what to read lol.

You’re exactly the type of person if held any power would get nothing meaningful done.

no and i don't see why we have to make it so much more complex.

Yea that sounds like something someone that naive and idealistic would say. When you have s*** like religious radicalism and ethnic superiority groups running amok (on all sides btw)
Men raping women and children. Illegal human/sex trafficking. People with undiagnosed schizophrenia and bipolar. There needs to be a force that is trained and actively prepared for protection and or confrontation and that has been police officers and military.

So we should just accept that militarized forces are the solution to these problems despite the fact they do nothing to actually solve these problems.

I dont think I've ever hated someone for their opinions more than I hate Noname.

Her opinions have no immediate effect to my life but somehow they still bother me.

    Powerful.

You are now pivoting your argument, and actively ducking the fact that you think we can make policy changes that would eliminate ALL crime.

When you take into account mental illness and human behavior such as rape, pedophilia, etc — what policy change will stop that?

I, as others, are not advocating for militaristic forces lol - they clearly have failed us

Perhaps a restructuring of the culture within the military and police force. A complete make over of some sort.

they'll just integrate more racists and terrible people. because when you are the violent arm of the state, you can't be anything else than oppressors.

Man I guess your mind is fixed.
I get where you're coming from and I honestly have had a lot of bad run ins with cops. But on a realistic level I just don't see the abolishment of the police. Way too many people benefit from the police/military force.

They have trust of corporations and small businesses. Vulnerable people in any community (low/high income)
I do believe that an economic shift in low income communities can work but the psychological process of what makes someone violent is deeper than just improving living conditions.

not taking a personal stance on the issue, but private police forces and security forces would take the policing role from neighborhood to neighborhood, city to city, as soon as police would be abolished
