It really is. My classes got f***ed up numerous times by my advisors. You hear sirens literally every day. And something like 1 in 3 people have an std. I still have good memories though and friends that I still talk to nowadays

it really is not in the best spot in town. And this may seem small, but that two lane street is not working lol. It gets stuck every day (pre-covid)

Lol I know smack dab in the middle of a community neighborhood. And they wonder why so many shootings and robberies happen on campus

Exactly! They really need to do something about it, but IDK what they could or even should do. I actually drove around downtime a few weeks ago and it was a ghost town. It was so weird
The last time I was on campus, like 2018 they had banned non students from using any kind of facilities or buildings. Even the basketball courts outside near the field lol. But yeah there really isnβt much they can do because of the location
Greensboro checkin in though

Y'all forget Krispy Kreme was born in Winston Salem. And Bojangles started in Charlotte.
The protests tonight were crazy! The Durham ones were peaceful. Actually they all started out peaceful tbh.
In Durham we had 2 protests, The first one earlier this afternoon. I didn't get to go, but on the news they said it was peaceful and very organized. It started around 2 or 3 and lasted until around 10:30. It was very peaceful the whole time.
Now, Raleigh was an entirely different story. I've been watching the news for about 5 hours now. It started out peaceful this afternoon, but at some point the police threw tear gas near the Courthouse and from then on it just escalated rapidly. I almost don't wanna call them protestors anymore tbh. But the protestors started looting CVS and then attempted to burn the building, but the police stopped it before they burned down the building. After that, they went all down fayetteville street and broke windows in almost every business, looting the majority if not all of them. Police were throwing tear gas every few minutes and it was just complete chaos. It was crazy (from what I could tell) cuz when the police officers, who were armed in full riot gear, threw tear gas some protestors and rioters threw firecrackers back at them and some of them were just wildin really. All the small businesses down Fayetteville Street are severely damaged and there was one building (the DMX or something like that) was set on fire with residents just floors above.
In Fayetteville it started as a peaceful protest as well, even Cole showed up. Around 7 or 8pm it turned violent with fires at the downtown market house and then around 9 or 10 they moved back across the bridge to Cross Creek Mall looting the mall and police showed up, you get the story at this point.
I'm just glad Durham was peaceful and organized the whole time cuz we're always in the news with people talking about how bad we are. I just hope nobody tries to put us in the news. Smh.
I really do feel for the small businesses cuz they didn't do anything wrong. They just reopened after 2 months, they're already struggling financially, and then a few people come in to ruin it all. My mom and I talked about it and she said that in some of the protests there's white racist groups coming in to stir up violence and we end up with things like this. It also could've easily been a few thugs just looking to steal, cuz looting is unlawful but they all started so peacefully. Nice to know at least one city went in and came out peaceful though.
ayo is NC really cool like that? really considering moving there but i'm wondering how Charlotte compares to cities like ATL, Houston, Dallas
not really but its better than most states
