    Just watched. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Unlike The VVitch something actually happens from start to finish. So I'm never just bored pretending this is a masterpiece.

And it's clear where the influence lies with some of the character demises, it's more poetic and harkens back to the sort of demure, solemn, dramatic depictions of silent film era horror as opposed to modern gore and shock.

But there's still a lot of gore to satisfy those with morbid curiosities.

I also enjoy the many different curve balls he implements to create tension and horror. Many scenes he could have just did a stock jump scare but he surprises me with those wide panning shots and weird frames to suggest that something is gonna happen.

Good technique. It's rare that I ever really feel tension in horror movies since I'm so desensitized to them.

    8.5/10

I think the plot is carried by the source material. It's just a good plot, period.

No point in putting in spoilers it's dracula. But I won't spoil it I guess.

I do think Thomas, the lead, moved the plot forward by being a dumbass a lot which I hate in movies but it's like 1840 and they don't have the internet.

Impeccably shot. Didn’t really care that it wasn’t scary at all, just impressed. The meticulous attention to detail held for most of the film and the ensemble is incredible. A breeze of 2 1/2 hours

lol I was deciding between the two I just knew I wanted to watch shroom chocolate and saw a movie . I had already seen wicked with grandma and bought on digital rewatch going crazy so that left nosferatu or Sonic . I go Nos only knowing the goofy looking one through photos and short clips I’ve never seen it. I was just in awe of this movie and the poetic bars

Hope his next film is set in a more contemporary era/setting, flex outside the comfort zone a bit – I don’t think he’ll ever stop making period pieces, but lets get 1900s with it

but I wouldn’t mind another literary adaptation
