whats wrong with a music Artist calling themselves an artist
Let's use the "I'm not a rapper I'm a artist" example
When you're a rapper but you say you're not a "rapper" and that you're an "artist" it diminishes rapping as something to avoid as if you're ashamed of it and hip-hop as a genre. You want to USE rap without giving it credit. You don't value it so you try to distance yourself while still benefiting from it. An artist should embrace what they love not try to discredit it. They take from the culture but won't give
And calling yourself something else like a "rockstar" is just a flat out lie. It reeks of trying to hard to be different when its the art that should separate you not the brand image you try to craft or a forced narrative.
Rappers ARE artists though
To say otherwise, would be to diminish the musical skills necessary to be a good rapper.
They really tryna push themselves away from being “rappers” cuz of all the stigma that’s been push onto it
But this ain’t the right place to bring that up, KTT nerds the type to try to talk down on rap music and use insults like “listen to something other than rap” and bring up the Beatles or some dweeb s*** like that
