The future will be about essentials, practicality, and minimalism. All that hyper consumerism is going out the door.

You must be expecting a full blown collapse in the economy.

when is this "future" and when do you think it comes to fruition. what makes you think hyper-consumerism is going to die soon?

Maybe I’m exaggerating a bit. I do think that due to automation and AI development, people will sort of resort to minimalistic lifestyles by default. Perhaps the hyper consumerism will shift towards more products and services in the meta rather than the real world.

Again I’m exaggerating. There will always be supply and demand for goods, etc. BUT, the obsession with products as social status symbols I think will shift into something else if you catch my drift

    Idk I’m not an anthropologist.

Kinda sorta. Idk about a full blown collapse but definitely a paradigm shift in regards to capitalism

So yea kids in this generation and beyond on average will not give a f*** about having over priced shoes and printed t shirts. Nor will they care for artist/albums/shows.

I mean we kinda seeing this shift already

Just shifted to more practicality and less hype, which is actually good for the space

Sneaker culture, whatever you think that is, is in a good space variety wise

You say that but I remember being able to walk into Foot Locker and buy Kobe’s off the shelf to hoop in

I always thought sneaker culture was the most dystopian and consumerist s*** ever. Lining up for hours to pay $200-$400 a pair of shoes that cost $5 to make by child slaves just so you can keep them in boxes and flex like wtf kind s*** is that

Well back then Kobe was a signature athlete and they were trying to sell as many Kobe's as possible

Kobe scarcity right now is by design by Nike

  • Mar 27, 2024

    Supreme not selling anymore?

I remember back in 2012 , I just entered high school and social media addicts who were online 24/7 on their iPhones was a new fringe phenomenon, they used twitter and tumblr were post undergrad

To me it was degen activity , that nyc and sf hipsters and college grads with bad habits were involved in now it’s ubiquitous

You went from talking about high school to throwing in the phrase “ post undergrad “ as if that’s an actual thing

Here’s something I think will help you in terms of bettering your understanding of the world without veering too far off tangentially from the topic of your , and cmon mr yoyo , be honest : this is a dead dog , s***ty ahh thread

    So with that being said

Just because you put something down , meaning putting it back in the pantry , so to speak , doesn’t mean the rest of the people in your household are done with pecan sandies .

Sneaker culture being dead is a good thing. It should have never went as mainstream as it did. Now people who love sneakers can pay reasonable prices for them.

“sneakerhead” becoming a mainstream term kinda killed it for me. like bro copped the wolf grey 5’s and green glow 4’s and saying tinker hatfield designed the 1’s saying “yeah im a sneakerhead”
