    I have enough confidence in my taste and musical knowledge where I don't feel intimidated by Anthony Fantano's reviews lol, not even on some arrogant s*** I've just simply done the legwork to find the kind of music that clicks with me and paid my dues learning from different eras of music history across different genres. I don't need a critic to define my taste in music for me one way or another

    I don't love him but I don't mind him

    Y'all (not you specifically but some onlookers who make hating Anthony Fantano part of their Internet personality) put too much emphasis on other peoples opinions just because they've built a big platform for themselves. I often disagree, and even sharply disagree in some instances, with TND reviews, but he's extremely articulate and well-rounded musically so I respect the opinions and I love how laidback his critic style is. It's refreshing from the stuffy s*** we were getting from Scaruffi, Christgau, Pitchfork, etc

    Well it doesn't surprise me you at least have a very level headed take regarding him

    I don't hate him I hate the younger people who just care too much about his opinion and run around the internet repeating his takes as facts

    And I don't like his Mac switch up, or how he targets rappers who really don't need to be targeted like that leading to ppl like nav or big Sean being s*** on by kids who never heard a song by them

    I used to like watching his stuff and just laughing when I disagree but stopped a long ass time ago

    He's funny as hell on twitter/threads tho. I think I liked his meme channel but remember none of it

    The fact that woke went from a term of endearment for black youth (kinda like based, actually) to being a conservative dog whistle is f***ing maddening and we need to reclaim it

    For both woke and based. Based was the most catchy and inventive slang from one of the most important artists in rap history, and now it’s taken on an explicitly political meaning for both the left and right. Makes me sick.

    He misses sometimes because he's not super well versed with hip hop but he has a working knowledge of the genre and its history

    I also don't really care what kids have to say about much of anything lol but I get that it can be annoying. I stay off social media so I don't see it too much

    It's better here than anywhere else but I get real annoyed when people s*** on me to no extent because I don't think nav is the worst rapper ever, or even dare say he has some really good songs/features

    The big Sean s*** is just so low brow and lazy imo but maybe cause where I am everyone adores him

    But the Mac stuff always really bothered me. Hated him until he died all of a sudden he loves Mac, so weird

    There is this ASMR youtuber named Angelica that is going through a similar spiral/pipeline right now, watching her descent has been the most fascinating thing to me these past couple of months.

    I feel like the "smug hipster centralist" doesn't have strong beliefs and maybe they find that in far right conservatism. Conservatism just has a few "stable" and "grounded" beliefs that are simple to follow.
