The mixtapes were actually good. They still hold up too. It’s wild to think of how big he was
It's not really a meme title. The whole album is about coming out of the closet - overcoming prejudice, oppression and social stigmas to be proud of yourself. The triptych on the album cover pretty much spells it out:
Slavery - Mental Slavery - Mental Freedom
Obviously Lil B isn't actually gay but he used the metaphor tastefully and in a way that actually reflects the IRL gay experience. I think it's one of the best concept albums in hip-hop and a way better 'gay hip-hop album' than anything Tyler or Kevin Abstract has made.
This is actually a really interesting conversation because this was a turning point for him
The hype around this album was big, this was like his “real debut album” which was a big thing in the blog era
Obviously the talk around the title was big
The music and soulful introspection were great in my opinion and was actually a good bait and switch. In hindsight I wonder why it didn’t work a little better and win more people over
Do you think the year is 2019
Why would I

Why would I
Sahbabi hype died this decade + lil b is maintaining if not increasing his fanbase now. In 2019 lil b was falling, but he's up again
I can't remember the last time I heard someone say sahbabi, but this did remind me to revisit purple ape
I felt like titling it like that (on some meme ironic non sincere s***, would be different if he was actually gay lol) actually f***ed up his momentum and cemented him as a joke
You didn't understood s*** about this album
no one was unironically listening to that slop besides a couple of resident braindead posters
You know you don't get money from ragebait interaction on ktt right
I've always liked Lil B. He legitimately had an incredible ear for beats, a great sense of humor and overall a very positive and charismatic vibe. These things are all true, meme or not.
We are going to coat your skull with styrofoam and drink lean from it #BitchMobTaskForce
Yeah say what you want but he was different and his mixtapes always had god tier beats
I still listen to pretty b**** now and then
put clams casino on the map along with a few other producers
lil b's open mindedness, easy to contact & didnt care if you were unknown is still amazing
a handful of producers including clams wouldnt have ever popped or caught attention if it wasnt for B and his i'll talk to anyone from the basement to the studio attitude
and yes Lil B was part of the amazing and successful group called The Pack that was discovered by Too Short - you had to be there, and on top of it you had to be growing up in the Bayarea as a kid/teen - truly a wild era.
Also sidenote - shout out The Federation they deserved better, n them niggas still get bumped, Bayarea 2000s royalty and the only niggas along with E40, Mac Dre, The Pack and Snoop keeping West Coast alive in the mainstream after Pac died and Cube turned to movies, until Game popped up & Dr. Dre came back out:
Counter strike at the cafe I’m logging off
"if kanye dont work with me imma f*** him in the ass next time i see him - lil b"

Classic tweet
He would have been big if he made more albums like “I’m Gay”
I like his other s*** too but this still my favorite B project to this day ngl
